Thanks for the 4X track pics Sharky!

It looks like there's more jumps, but it looks like it's still - if not moreso - a takeout track (i.e., to pass in turns you either block pass or take out [crash] the person in front of you.

Thats why I am going to practice tomorrow. If it hurts to bad in practice I dont race. I got lucky and didnt end up with all the scrapes.

Arent all 4x tracks pretty much that?:?:

I couldn't tell you. BMX tracks aren't that way though, but that's all I know.

All the pro 4x races I have seen are all about hole shot and then protecting line if in front or if not forcing you way to the front.

    thanks Denmo!

yeah, I think I'll come out and try some practice and see what's going on. I'm gonna hit the loop tonight for an easy lap and I'll see how that goes first.

Lee, there are some good places to pass, but you have to be VERY strong and out-accelerate people to do it from what I can tell. I'm one to talk about how much it can suck to pass in the turns...

Lee, what class do you race when you do 4X?

We got there about 12:30 they were just starting up top putting in the course we offered so Adrian, myself , Gilbert and a few others helped put in the course . It's awesome!! Split up top comes back together into the same line at the saddle then over the backside of the saddle a ways down splits again. The pro/Expert course is the most fun and technical I've seen this year the Beg/sport will be just as fun. I'll post pics in a bit. Those guys did most the work I was shooting pics and helping throw brush a little. You'll love these courses no doubt. Sorry I missed you Tracy I did some 4X after 3 and a little DH.

The Expert/Pro line is a blast, drops steeps and lots of rocks and overall best to date. Not the nastiest thing out there but far nastier than any of the other lines this year that i have seen and by far nastier than anything last year..... Ran it 4 times today and everytime was a blast.

BTW XC is going down carnage alley from last year, the one with the rock drop where everyone was sacking up and crashing into the rocks and dissappearing! LMAO Most are carying there bikes through it or several today while peaking over were. Ill go just to watch that alone and and Sundays undertimed if Ill race or not. I think missing 4 days of school in a row is a little much. Sun then 2 weeks later sat and then sat/sun for sea otter............

Either way Ill be practicing with the expert/pro guys tomorrow and D*#M its decent. Sport/Beginner is good wit ha good run in at the beginning of the waterfall.

Here's the scoop for anyone riding. I just finished riding the Pro XC course, Beg/Sport XC course and the Sport/Beg DH Course.

The Pro/Cat 1 course takes the old "ladder" climb up to the top. The climb is in pretty good shape until after the rock section then it gets really loose. I predict the first few riders making it through and then someone will come off and everyone will be walking. The DH after the climb contours the hill then turns down the ST that parallels the road. The Cat 1s will go about half way then turn on the road and go up, pros will continue down the ST to the rock garden they sometimes use for the DH. The back side of the course ends just before the first cement drain.

    Pro/Cat 1 XC Course: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=22248

The Sport/Beginner course is pretty much the same just without the back loop.

    Sport/Beg XC Course: http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?route=22249

The Sport/Beginner DH course is a little tougher than it's been the last couple of races with some tricky off-camber sections and more rock drops.

For those of you racing Expert/Pro DH, I'd bring the big bikes this weekend. The course looks significantly tougher than what they've been running the last couple of races.

Shuttle is 5 dollars a day no matter race or practice. Race is $45.

No license needed for Dh or 4x as this in nothing but another SRC race occurring during the SC/DS national.

    Course photos

No license for DH or 4X needed and you can't practice unless you're racing.
Keep in mind the photos don't really show the steepness of the sections but I think Travis explained it well...great course but pics don't do it justice definitely big bikes all the way. First pics are above the saddle then the two courses meet (pro/beg) Below the rockfaces on the other side of the saddle the beginners split left. He left some fun tech stuff shared before the last split. The lower garden goes straight through taped towards the right side so not much variation in the lines you can take there.

If you did you would need a USA cycling license and would need it regardless class. The only difference is you cant get a single race license if you race EX/Pro. The only two races in CA that I know you will is is the Los Olivos race when the XC/SD national is there and Sea Otter.

Is the Beg/Sport that steep or just the pro? I am curious, as if its a race where I would need the Aline I dont know I can force that thing around with a AC separation.

I did ride it once but the steep sections for the beg/sport are very brief. The rockfaces (I'll call them?) before the last split are easily rolled but then a quick left to make the split. Hopefully some of the other guys will chime in to give you a better answer. I wish I had more time to do some better runs but was getting late for work. I love Adrian for talking me into staying to get the run in was a blast.

Bring the big bike. I made it down on my trailbike but there were a couple of sections that to really "ride" you will want as much travel as you've got.
