Sorry it's such a hassle Gene. Wish there was a way we could negotiate the transfer of registration without having to bother the WS.

Problem with that is we need waivers filled out. If spots are swapped and we don't know about it, you get hurt.....we don't have your emergency contact info, nor do we know who you really are.:?:

Like J says, it's about the waivers. As far as getting entries transferred to someone else, that will be up to Chris and Sherry whether they'll allow people to transfer entries or not. All I did was maintain the list. I do not have access to the WS data base to change entries which is why participants were REQUIRED to notify Sherry or Chris of the change. That didn't happen in several cases and some didn't have race packets in their name when they went to pick them up. Others didn't answer PMs or emails or would pass up a chance to get in so the person selling their spot would just give up instead of going down the list until their spot was sold. As in most events, the policy now for these events is "no refund". Sooner or later the policy will also become "non transferable".

Could waivers be filled out the day of or whenever packets are filled out? By whoever picks up the packet. Rather than link registration to names, registration is tied to a registration number. OR no refund and no transfers :)

I am not going to pretend to know what it takes to put on events like this. You guys do a great job and know what you are doing. In the end you guys will do what is best for everyone.

I can think of a million other things than doing the traverse--not a fun ride at all--I compare that race to shoveling poop on a hot with no shovel.

"shoveling poop on a hot day with no shovel" now that's an interesting comparison.

Does that mean you are attempting to do this again. If so congrats my brother from another, or at least Lake Forest

I am in. Hopefully do better than the 7 hours plus it took last year. The heat took at least 30 minutes out of most peoples times.

Ya a lot of people filled out waivers the day they picked up their packets, but the transfer of names to the data base has to be done or you'll name will not be on the results. Maybe Sherry can pipe in and shed some light on this issue so there is no confusion.

Be sure and contact Sherry of the change and so you have your name entered and not Chris(slayer)

Chris contacted her to make sure we could do it. She said ok and I contacted her afterwards. She had me fill out the waiver and I faxed it back.

I am assuming since she let us transfer she is ok with it. Please don't quote me on that though.

Cool, I know Chris had a broken collar bone several months back. I'm sure transfers are going to be made, just not at the level of the VQ/CC. See ya out there.

It isn't by choice (or at least the choices weren't by my design), but apparently I'll be on the beach in Hawaii instead of suffering alongside my kindred spirits.

That being said, and not looking to get into any registration transfers etc, please feel free to add one more person to the roster in my place. I won't be there. :( Hopefully someone else gets my spot and has the good time I was looking forward to.

    Next year.

EDIT OK. Hadn't understood the rules here too much. If anyone wants my spot, I'll let it go for $40.

    EDIT Sold.

If anyone is going to bail out on the event and wants to sell their spot for the Traverse...we are still going to do that..but only until April 24th. If you are wanting to sell your spot to a person make sure you contact me so I can do all the changes necessary...the money exchange will be between you and the other person.

We do have the waivers signed when people come to pick up the packets that have transferred but we still need to change the info in our timing system before the cut off date when the t-shirts are ordered (you would be amazed how upset one can be when they don't get the right size t-shirt)....we are trying our best to make everyone happy.

I think what needs to be said is that all the people that run the Warrior's Society are volunteers and do the hours of preparation for the event after their other obligations and when we get a ton of participants changing registration and needing faxes, etc that is all being done on their Free time so we are trying to eliminate them from extra work since they are helping out for free.

    Thanks.

Are people who signed up ALREADY worrying about not wanting to do it? Why did you even sign up then!

Haha I worry about the suffering before every event. Then I think during the event why the heck did I sign up for this!?? It's only after crossing the finish line does it all make sense.

    Goodluck Traverse 2009'ers.

That's funny cause I'd love to do it, but am waaay too out of shape to even think about it. The ride up to the golf ball would be about my max right now.

Some day I hope to be back in shape. Then again, the heat would probably make me chicken out.#-o

I will GLADLY take it if Sherry & WS agree. I'll happily come down to Switchback this week in order take care of any paperwork.

If it's too much of a hassle, I understand. I've had since Nov; it's my own damn fault for dragging my feet.
