I came across this site while I was looking for some ride info - http://www.whereweride.com/. There seems to be some good trail info for Southern California and other places as well.
Great idea, but there are already so many other sites out there trying to do the same thing. Too bad they don't get together and do one combined one!
Doesn't it require a subscription? I just created a "Free Account" but it requires a credit card so they can charge you after the 14 day trial (unless you cancel before then). Free Trial Offer Final Step: Enter Billing Information "If it's a free trial, why do you need my credit card?" If you wish to continue your subscription at the end of your free trial, do nothing. For your convenience, you will be charged an annual fee of just $49.95 after your free trial ends. Cancel at anytime during this trial period and you will not be charged. And remember, your free trial comes with 3 free guides for you to enjoy, as well as unlimited topo maps.
trails.com is for fee, and I'm cheap... geoladders is the favorite. it's not as big for outside of SoCal. Why don't they add all these trails to geoladders...
ya, there is a subscription fee. I should have mentioned that. The reason for this is becuz they have to pay for licensed material (from published guide books) for each of the trails.
And the idea of geoladders (and whereweride and other similar sites) is not to republish material from published guide books, but have this material created by the community for the community.
i've used several sites throughout the years and when i lived in CO. geoladders seems to be the most comprehensive out here...but here are a few others worth checking out... http://www.mbpost.com/ http://singletracks.com/ http://www.trailcentral.com/ http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/
I asked that they make this a sticky thread so we can add on to it and have a comprehensive list of Trail Review Sites. Feel free to post the ones you find/use!!!! Oh, and give a review too!!!
http://www.motionbased.com/ is where some Garmin GPS users upload their routes. Not super comprehensive, but it's nice to be able to load routes into Google Earth to check them out. I don't have a GPS but I think you can also download the routes directly to a unit.
Here is my favorite: SOCALTRAILRIDERS.ORG! The ride reports send me out to places I have not been beofre all the time!:?:
lots of road rides here. too bad they don't have filter for road/mtb rides (if there are any mtb rides there that is.)
some ancient trail love: http://www.biketrails.com/ check this out (on the trails page): "Last updated: Sunday, April 27, 1997" it's amazing that it is still alive and out there :-[ ]
there needs to be a site with user created maps, KML files generated from GPX data, pictures, ratings, information, directions, discussion, all i one single site. the two sites i currently use are: geoladders.com mountainbikebill.com
