Come on out Jojo. Trust me, there's a lot of people out there that enter without as much time in the saddle as you. If it rains it'll definitely be the hard core people but you gotta do it to at least get your money's worth.

    Pre-race pics

Went out to do the pre-race ride this morning and seems that the course is different this year. Still a mix of climbs, fire roads, single track, and what looks to be recently "weed wacked" trails through some dried out, bumpy fields. Not sure how this course holds up to rain, but tomorrow might be very interesting. I may even have to forego the cruiser with rim brakes and bring a bike with discs if it's going to be wet.

    Starting line
    [IMG]

Turn 1, usually a big bottle neck here.

Hill doesn't look so bad from here
    [IMG]

Really tight single track. Don't get stuck behind a slower rider through this section
    [IMG]

I don't remember this part last year. One of the "weed whacked" sections.

One of the longer climbs. Makeable, except one section where it was particulary steep and loose.

Fast descent into a right 180 degree turn
    [IMG]

Same descent showing bottom of the hill with the turn
    [IMG]

Lots of areas to pass if you aren't too winded from the climb
    [IMG]

    Start of another singletrack descent
    [IMG]

    Some loose areas down here
    [IMG]

After entering the tunnel, you end up on the other side of Temple Avenue and get to see and "smell" the local residents
    [IMG]

Another descent. Not too steep, but kind of techy.

Same hill. A little loose with some bumps and a wire fence that will hopefully be marked better by tomorrow. You can barely see the fence just in distance to the left of Nancy's helmet
    [IMG]

Cows, sheep, and pigs, with some questionable runoff you have to ride through. I'd keep your mouth closed through here.

Back through the tunnel and to the last climb. Very few riders make it up this.

Final descent onto the parking lot. Usually good for a lot of carnage shots here:lol:

Can be a fast descent but watch out for the bump at the end and gravel on the last turn onto the asphalt. Then repeat everything for another 2 or 3 laps!:bang:

    Uh oh.

    See everyone manana!

DON'T FORGET TO SET YOUR CLOCKS BACK TONIGHT!!!

On that section where everybody, if not most, pushing up their bike, is it loose? do you get traction at all?

You'd be better off running that section.

it's just steep and you can't get any momentum coming up to it. The payoff is once you get to the top it's a fun ST downhill to the finish.

I went out for a pre lap today, the recently weed wacked trail isnt too appetizing but whatever, over all should be a fun race, it will be my first so i'm excited.

Not sure what time the same day registration begins but I will be there early just incase.

Not racing this year, still in the middle of moving. I had a blast last year even though I got my arse handed to me. I did sport 40-44 3 laps with a time of 1:16, came in 8th. #-o
    Good luck to all. :bang:

Had to spend time with the familia. I gave up an eight year streak too. But the Queen Mary was a lot of fun too.

Plus some other people might need some stuff and my garage is getting pretty full.
