    Damned bike riders

    Shuttling I understand, it's the shuttlers I don't understand.

I don't really care if people turn mountain biking into a motorized sport, just like shuttle riders shouldn't care whether or not others approve of or respect that kind of riding. Whenever I'm tempted to shuttle I just ride my motorcycle. It's pretty much the same thing as shuttling.

Most of the time it just seems like more trouble then it's worth. Of course I've formed these opinions over 25 years of riding, which included shuttle runs on the SJT as far back as 1983. It's just not something that I would choose to do now.

What I don't get is why people with DH bikes even bother with the trails like SJT, why not drop into some trails that benefits from the extra travel? I do know that it's not important whether or not I "get it".

As long as we all think we're having fun, then thats all that should matter.

So get out there have fun and keep those elbows sharp.

What is there not to understand? I have a DH bike, I want to ride DH trails (NOT San Juan, there are other trails far more shuttle-worthy). The most efficient way for me and my friends to maximize the number of runs we get is to shuttle, as there is no lift-serviced mountain that allows DH bikes nearby.

    Yes.

Did you even bother to consider that while I quoted your post as a jumping off point, I was also responding to similar views that had been expressed earlier in this thread?

Roger does not enjoy climbing and never will. I make him do it but I have to drag him kicking and screaming, hence we shuttle (sometimes).

I have a bike that can go up as well as down. So I usually just climb to the top of this trail everyone seems to love shuttling. I have fun both ways, and then sometimes I stop to talk to the DH guys. Guess what? They're pretty cool! They simply have bikes that only go one way.

My ride is like 50 minutes up for 5 mins of down. Guess how long it takes to shuttle? Almost as long!

I don't care if you shuttle or climb, as long as you offer to help when my bike breaks on the trail!

So Marshall where are these far more shuttle-worthy trails? I know that SJT is not the best one for an all encompassing DH run, but its the closest and esiest to do. By the way the two old ladies bag fighting is one of the funniest things i have seen in a while

for what it's worth, I've only got a 45lb big hit bike, so my options are limited to what I can ride. However, I usually stick to predominantly downhill trails. :)
