Wow, thank you! I am honored. I AM SOOOooo smiling from your "got something in my eye comment." You were one of the main people that got me there, Gene! Next mission for me, ride a little less, volunteer more! I got a little on my top left forearm near the elbow. I am blessed beyond my wildest dreams to have such awesome friends!!! [-o-]
Me too. But Fock, those 24hours of Adrenaline events are $$. Do you still need to provide Volunteer hours if you do the short course, and are going solo?
No, if you're solo you don't need to provide a volunteer. All you have to do is ride, smile, ride some more, bigger smile... See ya guys out there.
Off Topic: but endurance involved  Don't forget about the 24hrs of Temcula (at Vail Lake ) the same weekend - No volunteers needed for the 24hr Teams fully supported by GG's staff That's where we'll be
the temecula race seems a lot smaller...I am contemplating trying a 24 hour event solo...i think i lost my mind. Hurkey is $305 (according to what their page said) and vail lake woul be $330 (according to what their page said). Seems like hurkey is cheaper
It is smaller here in So Cal everyone seems to like the Hurkey race better, We on the other hand prefer GrannyGear (We do more then one of their races a year) but will do the Hurkey on in the fall. We've got 2 team members from SLC that fly out and race it with us, they love the course and keep coming back. It is more $, but like I said for Teams there's no strings attached. Solo is the same either race. Have fun doing your 1st 24hr solo
i'll be at hurkey. it will be my first 24hr solo. i did it as a 2 person last sept. and it was a blast. now i just got to find an extra $300 somewhere.
Wow Chris 24 hr solo, be sure you take some mustard packets or pickle juice with ya just in case. Worked for me. Cramping up would $uck ar$e in an event like that. #-o
yeah, i'm going to have everything on me. i also just picked up some thermotabs today just in case. sat. was weird. when i did the 12hr at vail solo, i rode from 9am to 8:55 pm and never had one cramp. i rode 90 miles and had 13,000ft of elev..the most i ever stopped was 5 min. and on the VQ i started to cramp at mile 11. i did the same food and supplement routine i always do. i don't know what happened. :?:
Totolly agree. Long sustained climbs take more out of your legs than most think. If you don't hydrate and take suppliments, cramps are inevitable.
You asked.... The Julian 7500....aka "Julian Death March" You wanted sustained climbing....come get some cramping :bang: When you find some...let me know where so I can go looking. I have come up empty for a solo entry at either granny or adrenlin events due to their cost. I did the pueblo twice solo.
nope that wasn't it. i did plenty of training rides with long climbs. i actually love climbing hills.
