Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Caddyshack for the two most quotable/quoted movies...(Good call on Blazing Saddles above).

Great classics mentioned above for sure - Casablanca - yup.

One modern movie that was waaaay better than expected and made the viewer question reality - The Truman Show.

My favorite classic is a little freaky, so much so, it's called "FREAKS" from 1932. If you haven't seen it I suggest you do! It's AWESOME!!

Some good ideas here for rainy day watching. A few more of my faves:

Tremors -Kevin Bacon fighting big worms in the desert
The Hills Have Eyes 2 - moto riding zombies attack teens in the desert
Italian Job - the original with M Caine and Benny Hill and the classic mini-coopers
    Rambo First Blood
2001 a Space Odyssey - FB prompts me every sign-on with "How are you feeling, Dave?" Still think FB is Hal ...
add: Fandango - A young Costner roadtripping with buds through the desert-skydive scene is hillarious

Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman. Just rewatched it a couple of weeks ago. It stands the test of time and is still brilliantly funny!

At one end of the spectrum:

    Post-1980's
Conan the Barbarian (and if you think I'm referring to the recent one, shame on you...I didn't watch the move for its comic-book adaptation qualities)
    The Princess Bride

    Pre-1980's
    Any Clint Eastwood Spaghetti Western
Godfather I or II (III doesn't exist)

    Genre-Defining:
    North by Northwest
    Lawrence of Arabia
    Animal House

My all time favorite is Casablanca. It just has so many witty one liners. We used to get together on Sunday nights to watch Classic movies and bring snacks and drinks. The rule was the the movie had to be older than the year you were born. It was so much fun.
