I am considering both of these bikes. Any thoughts or suggestions, or alternatives in the price range I should consider?

I thought about the Blur LT but not the carbon model. I really need to keep the total to below $3k to have a clear (reasonably clear) conscience about this purchase.

I am thinking that Santa Cruz bikes will exceed that with a decent build kit. But am I wrong?

Certainly the carbon frame would be too $$$$

the yeti handles better coming down, i rode both back to back at interbike , the altitude has a retarded seat angle that makes it handle funky, unless your talking about the 29er version which was spot on

OK now, you've got me thinking about one of these! Although the ano finish is awesome...hard to pass that up! It IS a lower spec for the build than the Yeti...so what are your thoughts on that...with the Yeti I get XT with fox rp23 etc., etc. (maybe not a huge difference, but is the frame alone on the SC worth another $350?)

    Sweet bike though, no doubt!

I say try em' and buy the one that feels the best.
I had my heart on a 575 and I knew that's the bike I wanted. Then I demo-ed one. Everyone who has one loves 'em, but no matter how much I played w/ it, the bike was just not a good fit. A bit disappointed that I had to let the 575 go, I looked elsewhere. Then along came my Rocky Mountain SXC70. I love it. In fact, at the same event that I tried the 575, I had ignored the Rocky Mtn booth. It wasn't until a few months later that I tried the SXC and I've never regretted it. It'll be a long time before I move unto anything else.

So, see what fits, and enjoy.

Ibis Mojo w/ SLX build kit is $2999

Banshee Spitfire at Adrenaline is like $2600 with a good build.

I love my DW Turner 5Spot!

Don't worry as much about the build kits--focus on which frame fits you best. Therefore demo each of them.
For the Rocky Mountain--what suspension design do they use?

I am a crappy climber and had a Yeti 575 that was just as shitty a climber as I am. I sold it and got a frame with a DW link. I couldn't be happier. It's a much better climber and even more fun on the down.

Of the choices mentioned, I would go for the Blur LT. Or look for a lightly used Mojo or Mach 5 (if you can find one. ;))
