What trying to dump you dad off on someone?:?:

Does he know the area well? Maybe a easy route group, more XC then DH type trails. I know Elvia wants to go but is worried about not knowing the easier trails and doesn't want to ride by herself.

I'll be checking with Traci and Maddie maybe I can ride with them. Bryguy are you dropping your dad? It's most likely Julia12 is dropping me on gravity day. I've never been out there depends if I can meet up with Mark (mfoga) and follow him. Or maybe he can ride with us or something like that. Or maybe Fred gets a pass and join us.

    We are maybe's.

not so much trying to dump him off on someone, but give him someone more his skill level to ride with. I tend to go a bit more, er, aggressively than he does, and he doesn't enjoy the more DH oriented trails as much as I do. Just wondering if there was a more XC oriented group that he could roll with. (and by XC I mean going downhill as much as possible, but not going downhill with a crazy rate of speed like some of us)

I was kidding and totally understand. Hopefully someone at your dad's level will join the fun. How cool you and your dad are riding together.

bring the goose. They were looking at my reign funny, and that was 35.5 lbs and a single crown fork. I'm sure the big hit wouldn't fare well with the lifties

A teocali would be really fun up there anyway though, so don;'t sweat it

I'm in. With me being a local, is anyone going to be offended if they let me take my DH bike?

YES!!!!! NOT!!!!! :bang: I prefer riding my AM bike with big tires so I can pedal without wearing out my knee, otherwise I have to change out my front chainring on my DH bike which is a PITA!!!!! However, I am switching to my CB flat pedals and Five Ten shoes so I can huck all the big stuff this time!!! Oh, and someone please bring a camera so I can be in some of the pictures this time!!!! (last time I was the official photographer). ;)

I personally prefer flats for high speed technical DH, hucking and jumping (I learned on flats). ;)

Honestly, it depends on you. I personally can do both, and choose based on what I'll be doing. Jumping, freeride-type stuff I will use flats. It builds better skills jumping with them, and for some gives more confidence having the ability to dab quickly.

on the flipside, if you're pinning it, going fast, and just don't want to worry about where your feet are, go clips.

personally, I will be riding clips. I'm just as confident with them and I am with flats, and I don't need to worry about getting kicked off a pedal when I hit a rock. I also get going SO much faster on the motorway on lower fall line :bang:

one last thing to consider: weight. My clipless pedals (while basic and rather heavy) are a full 3/4 lbs lighter than my flats. it makes the difference between convincing the lifties that my bike isn't a DH bike and having to pedal back to my cabin and get the spare.

If for some reason it's stupid cold (like it was this past saturday), maybe sure you have cold weather gloves. the worst anything was I kept getting numb fingers, and there was nothing I could do but stop and warm them up.

other than that, I wore pants over a chammy, 2 t-shirts and a hoody for the day and was good. 2 pairs of socks were also helpful.

Well I don't want anyone being jealously offended if I have my DH bike so I guess I will just ride the other.
