My son is 7, and I would like to introduce him to a little mountain bike racing. He is a competent rider, but has never done a race. I am in Orange County, and looking for something close by we can hit up. If you can let me know where, what, when for a good race for him, I would appreciate it.
I'd suggest the following: racersandchasers.com OR rimnordic.com I think both have kids races that are short enough for a 7-year old. You might wish to contact them for the exact details. Eric
Talk to Traci (Surlygal) and skinny (1X1Clyde or some shit like that). Their daughter Madie is 7 and has been racing at Fontucky, I think. They're currently in Downieville, which is not near Downey or associated with it. Dylan would kill his age bracket. Especially with his bad-ass Specie and retro clothing. Chip off the old block, old man.
+1 on Rim Nordic (www.rimnordic.com). They have a cool short lap for kids. Plus your son will probably like the atmosphere up in the San Bernadinos.
have to suggest the SRC Winter Series. Donny puts on great races. Rim Nordic and Racers and Chasers were already mentioned and put on great events. at his age it might be best to try BMX. lots of great athletes started in BMX.
Try BMX at the Orange Y. Lots of kids race there. My son is 6 and races a couple times a week. It's not MTB but a good intro into racing.
