Not trying to flame you in any way, as I've been in similar situations many times, but if there were joggers on the right then it seems like there was space to be used. Didn't you have the option to just slow down for a few moments and follow the joggers until the gaggle of roadies passed, thus avoiding a collision?

One of my huge pet peeves is when people won't simply slow down for a few seconds to turn a dangerous situation into a non-event.

And why should he have? Social hour and riding 2, 3, 4, 5 abreast doesn't give anyone the right of way. Multiple riders are NOT a single unit. They can all move independently. Spread out when its clear and file up when theres traffic (foot, cycle, or auto). I know the mtb community gets the same grief on trails as well, so, its not just a roadie thing. But, in this situation, roadie was as fault.

Why should he? Because doing so (if he could of) would have prevented that girl from crashing. And even if she was at fault for taking uo the whole lane, preventing people from getting hurt whether or not you have the right of way is normally the right thing to do

Fixed it for you. Luckily, she didn't hurt the poor lone cyclist who was well on his side of the path. Also, luckily, she didn't crash into more of the path users who were in the vicinity. Just because we are on a trail, doesn't mean we own the trail. Do i believe this could have been avoided? Yes. Could she have moved over? Apparently, her only option was to plow into a cyclist on the other side of the path.

I honestly thought I had moved right far enough...and as far as I could. I had slowed from about 19 mph down to 14-15 already. If I could have avoided a collision I would have gladly done so. But still, she didn't make a very big try at moving back toward where she should have been to start with, at least not until I could see the whites of her eyes and she realized she was in deep kimchee.
