Suggestion Who wants the old STR marketplace back??

The new classified section has sucked ever since its launch. I remember seeing super good deals every single day but not anymore. Who wants the OLD STR marketplace forum back up?? WHO'S WITH ME???

I dont even know what the old one looked like, but bring it back anyway.

 

The old one was great! It was fun to read, even if you weren't buying. Too funny seeing people get flamed for outrageous prices. Also amusing was dealing with the cheap low-ballers who expect something for nothing. Entertaining none the less. Bring it back.

 

That's pretty much been the sentiment ever since the new system came into being - that the old marketplace was better.

Though...there are a lot more thin-skinned members on here these days that would probably not react well to them. Not that I have a problem with that (they need thicker skin anyway), just making the point.

Old Marketplace with stricter rules about threadcrapping. Maybe a rule that posters can only say "they'll take it". Unfortunately there's no one willing to police it.

 

Gene is the only one who really moderates, and we want him to have even more work?

It's all easy for many to say bring it back, but none of you knows how much of a pain it was to moderate. Here's a recap: Too many BUMPS. Too many replies not having to do with the actual item for sale or people not actually interested, but reply anyway. 25 random BS posts by a new member just to get the 25 minimum post in order to post in the Market Place then on the 26th post, a thread in the Market Place selling an item which is why guero, the Market Place Mod stopped moderating it for the most part.

There's still good deals in classifieds, you just have to look.

 

Not saying there aren't deals in the current classifieds, just not as many daily.

The marketplace on many other forums seem to work fine, but thats because of the moderators.

Anyone want to volunteer

 

Ya moderators as in plural. Like I've mentioned before, there's no one else left to moderate here and I've asked George to get new ones to replace the ones who've left, but still listed a Mods. View Site Leaders

The new classified setup doesn't work if the ad poster doesn't leave an email address or ph# and they opted out of receiving PM's.

I'm trying to contact BUTASAN for something he posted up recently.

New classifieds suck, i voted im here for the drama

 

My understanding is the reason the new format was adopted was to generate revenue to keep the site running since the donations were not enough. I'm not sure if they're still charging to put ads up

 

Sign me up! I'd be more than happy to help volunteer and bring back a thriving marketplace that people will look forward to coming to check out.

 

That was my understanding as well. But a lot of other members that I've spoken to have never paid to put ads up. Not saying there aren't people paying for ads, I just don't know of any. Other forums generate revenue from their advertisers and 'premium' membership subscriptions.

I Volunteer. Am willing to devote some time into making the Marketplace more effective for those wishing to buy and sell items here.
Have helped moderate some other sites and groups in the past.
