Nothing special. Snow was only a factor on the upper trails like Kamikaze or Skidmarks.

Or if you did the first run Sunday morning on Velocity...right Allison? ;)

I was running 2.7" WTB Timberwolves. They are perfect for Mammoth and snow. The tall, widely space knobs dig deep into the loose stuff and sheds mud pretty well. I didn't notice a difference in the feel of riding in snow vs. riding there two weeks earlier immediately after the rains.

Wow, looks like everyone had a great time. Jeff (Kernville) invited me to go, but I had to work. Photos rocked-maybe next year...

Wow... I just knew you guys were going to have fun when it started snowing... great shots and sharing!

Unfortunately, I have an allergic reaction to riding big bikes... my heart starts beating faster, my breathing quickens, I start hearing the Rolling Stone's Brown Sugar in my ears .... It's hard to control the impluse to buy one of those big shiny machines ... but somehow I manage... I just wonder how long before this insidious illness takes me completely?

    Good job DH Grasshoppers....

    A few..

pictures. I negleceted my camara this weekend. Was it the cold, the frozen brakes, the awesome riding? Who cares I had an amazing time I can't think you get too many chances to ride in the snow like that! Great to meet a bunch of new people & see the familar faces. Jeff I can't thank you enough for letting STR into your home. It was great riding with you & Scott. Finally got to test the Versus Blitz 2 out which I just built, & was very pleased. Can't wait to go back. A big thanks to everybody for a fun weekend, as always thanks to Alison for the pictures, Winston your pictures rock, & everybody else for the great write ups. My ramp shots going on the wall! Heres to opening weekend only 240 days to go:eek:

I get on a DH bike and I start hearing Van Halen's song Jump.

Ok...I started hearing that every time I got on my BMX bike in the mid 80s.

    What a ride

What a great weekend. I have ridden on the mountain many days over the past few years and I have to say that the dirt was the best I have ever seen it. The snow just added to the adventure. I couldn't have hoped for a better set of house guests. You guys and gals were great.
I got into town around 1:30 pm on Friday. I went to the mountain and did a few runs on the gondola. I found out later that the reason I didn't see anyone was that they were down on Lower Rock Creek. The conditions were great.
Everyone has covered what went down on Saturday and Sunday. I seemed to be riding with 30 people one run then 3 people the next. It was hard to keep the group together. It was great to ride with many of you again and to put some faces to the STR names. I hope to ride with you all again soon, perhaps here in Kernville. Here are some pics from my camera.

Decided a week ago to head up with the big STR group to do closing weekend at Mammoth. Then I hear the weather report calling for snow on Fri and Sat. It turned out to be one of the best times I've had at the park because of the snow. I didn't want to risk getting hurt before an upcoming Utah trip so I mostly stuck to the XC trails. We did a few black diamond trails and some X-zone stuff. Three runs on Sat and four on Sunday. All were long runs that took over an hour to get to the bottom. It seems no matter what trails we planned to hit while going up the lift, the plan always changed by the time we got down. Our core group was sheclimbs, CC, steppie, PHAT TIRE and myself. Our guest riders were Edog, Hoosierdaddy and wecameallthewaydownthiscrappyxctrailandwe'renot goingtohitshotgun_youth. Nothing like hitting the first snow of the season. Tin(ka0t1c07) broke his one day driving record and came up just to ride Sunday for our last three runs. I thought I was serious about riding. My personal highlight was cleanly linking the last three (small) doubles on the Paper Route X-Zone after barley casing all three on the previous run. I suck at doubles unless a motor is involved. We stayed at jfsh's (Jeff from Kernville) house in Mammoth with his family. Couldn't ask for a better host, thanks again Jeff. Saw a bunch of people I've ridden with and met some new ones. What could be better.

    Dc 10

really does rock, that rock garden at the top is pretty nuts, the only thing that slightly blows about this trail is that it dumps you in the middle of nowwhere, not the place you want to be with 'I'm not pedaling anywhere youth!!!' First time I rode this I tried to catch the shuttle bus. That didn't work so I wondered on over to Shotgun.

Who is this? I never refused to pedal atleast if I was already there, I just decided what trails I would and would not go on due to the amount of pedaling.;)

On some of the busier weekends during the season they open up chair 2 which makes riding DC-10 much better.
