Something a little different. Want to ride LP without the burly price of admission that San Juan to LP is. Willing to defer the admission the return trip back over LP, for better or worse. I expect to ride/hike this alone, but anyone with some legs who's dopey enough to join me is more than welcome.

No definite day, but I lean towards Sunday. Happy to ride Sat to accommodate.

Conditions should be sa-weet after the recent rain and more this week.

Are you going to go back up Pinos? That would be a lot more burly than going up SJT

I agree with evdog - If you drop LP down to the bottom and are thinking about hiking back up you can expect a 3-4 hour HAB back to Pinos Peak. I have done that twice and it is by far the hardest HAB I have ever done. We did it last year while training for the Ultra Quest and it helped make going up Bell Ridge seem easier.

Just finished San Juan/Los Pinos loop. Wow, that's a manly ride. Glad I wore comfortable shoes. Fun day.

Wow, that will be punishing and going solo is gnar.

I did Los Pinos once and I'm good for another nine months before I'd consider that again.

    Yuup!

R/HABR: Started from Holy Jim parking area at 8am and got to the bottom of Los Piños by 11:20. Decided to pedal up San Juan, or at least check the crowd at the TH and take a(nother) break. Crowded. Had a chat with santacruiser Bob who had just pulled in. Skipped SJ and headed up LP, four-hour HAB/ride to Trabuco, back to the starting point at 4:45.

It was a blast riding LP so fresh, and conditions were perfect. The return trip over the ridge was a somewhat ridiculous affair, but provided the cross training I'd hoped. Saw a couple teams coming down LP on my way up, and also saw tracks from vino's Saturday team. Here's to...not riding today :)

How is Los Pinos coming down? Rideable all the way?

Super fun non-buff hiking trail with consistent technical difficulties from every high point to the last turn. Loose chunky stuff, a few rocks/rock gardens and sharp, loose switchbacks; every inch rideable if you can get the switchbacks. A couple of them are rocky.
