Hey Chopper ... thanks for the offer. But I think I am going to wait at the end for everybody! I think I'm going to be the post-race beer girl. :) I am taking requests now. I like to think of it as a promotion. :) All you idiots are going to be riding your bikes 44-54 miles. I am going to be sipping brew. J/K. Looking forward to being a CC/VQ cheerleader.

I would have been happy to volunteer ... it's just that there is a SLIGHT chance I may still race. I am getting an MRI tomorrow. I found out that the seat height on my new bike was WAY too high.

Jose, don't you think I know your beer preference by now?! Especially since New Belgium is my fav. too! Too bad I'll be drinkin' em all while you're racing. :p

No problem. I spoke to the event directors today and I think they are going to make sure we have plenty of help.
When I used to run we had a treatment for knee problems. We put beer on ice before the run, then when we got back, we put the ice on our knees and drank the beer. Worked pretty good!

What are you packing for CC?

Sorry Im getting all crazy but I did this last year too... the anticipation is killing me... ahhhhhh!!!

Here is my list of stuff in my pack:

    Park Tool
    Bike Pump
    Tire Patches & Tube Patches
    SRAM Power Link
    First Aid Kit
    Mud Scraper (brush thing)
Lube and Rag?? ßDo you think that’s necessary?

    Nutrition during Ride:

    (1 Gel every 30 minutes)
I anticipate that I will do the race in about 7hr – 8hr...who knows since I will
    be riding the coiler (37lbs!)
So I will be bringing about 18-20 Gels with me.

    Clothing:

    Top Half

    Warm weather gloves with liners

1st layer - Under Armor Long Sleeve Shirt
2nd layer - Fox Short Sleeve Jersey
3rd layer - Thin Top layer long sleeve top

    Bottom Half
    Shorts w/ Leg Warmers
2 Pairs of Socks w/ Neoprene Booty over shoes to cut wind

Infortunately, we are not even replacing anyone who drops out at this point. Number plates have been assigned plus all the names and info have already been entered into the timing software.

In addition, we have over 200 people on a waitting list. So the spot you are looking at would have gone to the next name on the list anyway.

Come join us for the Traverse in June.

Wow it's only Thursday and we are already sending out the good lucks to everyone. Well done.

Many of us have done this several times before. Some of us did it two weeks ago. This event is not about us. It is for those of us that are truly questioning if they can do it at all. It is for those that will be working to beat the cut off times. To those individuals-I applaud you. I wish you the best of luck. Now get out there and kick some phat tire arse!!!!

Don't overpack...you gotta carry all that stuff...
your "mudscraper" can be disposed of and you can use a "stick" instead....

the lube is a crap shoot...

2 socks AND the neoprene booties? is that way overkill? remember... it's only freezing till you start climbing Blackstar...:) (well, that is unless it's as cold as last year...i didn't have feeling in my feet/hands till the dirt on Maple...*gulp)

    have fun on that coiler!

The latest forecast is calling for 80 degrees and strong wind. That means just three things, hydrate hydrate hydrate.
