Just a reminder the start time is 5:30. It will be pitch dark so bring a light. Hopefully you'll be able to dump it off with someone at the bottom of Motorway.
I'm bringing a 6 watt cheapy that I use for my booze cruize'n.

    Good Luck everyone!!!!

No a light is not required, but it will be totally dark till after 6am. I normally ride my bike to work and at 5:30 the sky is still black.
    good luck!

It was light last year at 6.10ish. I'm not going to take a light because my theory is that other people will have them and light the way and 40mins later it wont be needed. Blackstar to Beeks is smooth and there arent many obstacles to avoid (Famous last words?!)

Graham can take your light from you at the bottom of Motorway if you want to take it. He'll also have your spare juice if you want.

I just picked up this light the other day.
Cat Eye HL-EL410 Front Bike Light

Cost $40. Really small and light. Obviously won't touch my HID for brightness but it seems to put out a nice light, especially for how small it is. I plan on keeping it in my Camelback as an emergency light after the race.

Thanks but I think I'll just boost my carrot intake this week. It'll be dark but I don't think a light is required. Once ya start climbing there's no real need for it and you'll be able to see pretty clearly before even reaching Beaks. Just my $0.02

I did the early strart last year and mooched off some other peoples lights and there were motorcycles guiding us through the mud puddles. By the time we got about a half mile form Hidden Ranch a light wasnt needed.

The only problem with that plan Mario is that you’re so fast that it’ll still be dark by the time you’re on the motorway.

I did the early start last year, which started at 5:00. It was light by 5:45. So it's a pretty small window of need this year, since it starts at 5:30.

oh great. no pressure. :) i can't wait to chill with str ppl (especially sharky) after counting coup. my goal is to make it in before noon. plenty of time left to hang out! :) extra motivation to finish the race as fast as possible!

ps - is it okay to just tell the volunteers i'm riding single-speed after the race? or should i tell them before?
