Well... maybe I'd charge him for it. And then they'd make a movie about Vision Quest.

"genusmtbkr5" I believe you go by Gene, it seems you're the go-to individual for WS...
So, I'm interested in volunteering my time to clean up areas that need repair on the VQ Course, let me know if you need hand.. I know its a bit early, however, fill me in when the time comes.

This will get you on the mailing list. This is usually where trail work notices go out.

Wait...let me see if I got this right.

If I whack fellow competitor or volunteer (even more dangerous) with a stick during the race and get away unharmed I get bonus points..or more notches on my feather? Do I get more notches if it is on one of the Motorway or Upper HJ descents...after all I would only have one hand on my handle bars...that would be death defying for me? Hmmmm

that would also make me sad. and im thinking there will be plenty to be sad about anyway (i.e., the never ending riding).

Re: Craigslist, the fast sellout, etc.:
Maybe the Warriors ought to consider a requirement that you have to qualify to buy an entry by previously doing at least one trail work day, or by volunteering at one of their other events, or through some other form of local activism on behalf of the MTB scene. I know that would require verification of participation, which could be a pain to track, but that would benefit the local trails and community and help keep it a more locally-oriented event. And then if Lance or any other big cheese wants to come out, it would be a stoker for the kids to be able to say they built their local trail alongside a legend.

    Just a thought. :-k

Seems there are plenty of other cycling events that are very hard to get into, like Ledville, and plenty of roadie events, like Death Valley century and double century, the Death Ride. The Death Ride is notoriously hard to sign up for, yet just like VQ/CC, there are always tickets available so long as the event organizers allow transfers. This year my buddy and I got two tickets for the Death Ride two days before the event. Charging a charity fee like the WS does makes allowing transfers in everyone's best interest so long as the process in manageable.

Well, that just blows. Leave it to my wife to take my daughter and leave my ass that night. What a crock. She owes me a CC ticket.... when I find her.

Oh well, I'm on the "list" which is impossibly wrong. Maybe I should place a Craigslist ad for $161

Or maybe I'll just ride the course renegade and bring my own El Polo Loco in a cooler. With beer. Eh, that sounds better and cheaper. But I wouldn't get that cool number plate thingy.

People that can't read or follow the "SIMPLEST" of instructions should be left on their own. How many times will someone come in and ask how to get on the wait list? Are you people serious? How do you get to work? Or live for that matter.
All right. I am calming down now. Holy Christ.

    Just received this email:

We are having issues with the transferring of spots. Unless the following is done no transfer will occur:

If you decide to sell your spot you must email us and notify us that you are selling your spot and cc the person who is buying it. This is necessary to confirm you actually have agreed to sell your spot and so we can provide an application to them.

You must then mail the Warrior's Society the application and the transfer fee which is a money order (no personal checks) in the amount of $25.00 made out to either the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund or to the UCLA Foundation.

Mail the money order and filled out application to:

    The Warrior's Society
    11278 Roanoke Court
    Cypress, Calif. 90630

Once the application and money order is received I will notify you that the change has been made.

    Chris Vargas
    Executive Director
    The Warrior's Society

FYI: All WTB or WTS spots need to be posted in the Classifieds. Any posted here will be deleted. Thanks.

Sunrise March 20th 2010 is at 6:57AM (DST starts the week before on March 14th).

For some reason I was thinking I wouldn't need lights this year but looks like I will need more! Am I missing something here???

With a 5:30 start thinking will need about 1 hour of lights.
