Turner Flux 27.5 The Witch has a new broom to ride … and she likes it. As I wrote in a previous post, I wanted to replace my Mach 5 and ideally wanted a 29er but could not find one that fit my body size but and my riding style (er, if you call that a “style”). After riding demoing the new Flux 27.5 I knew this bike was a fit for me. Now, I just had to call Turner place my order and wait. Impatiently wait. (Patience is not one of my positive qualities) I communicated directly with Turner Suspension for the ordering process; my bike would be a size small, XT build kit with the optional Kashima upgrade in the 2 x 10 configuration. Months of demos, reading, lusting I finally picked up my 2013 Turner Flux 27.5 last week. When I got the bike home, the ONLY thing I had to adjust was the air pressure in the fork and shock. There were no adjustments needed to the drivetrain or brakes; everything was set up perfect. I had the opportunity to examine the frame and rear triangle before assembly and have to admit the quality and engineering is very impressive. Not everyone gets to see the raw product before it becomes a complete bicycle. Off to the trails to get it dirty! And yes, I'm going to replace the red zip ties for my Garmin with black and will upgrade the seat dropper at some point; for now, I'll use my old one.
Great looking ride....fellow Flux rider here, but on the smaller 26" from 2011...Turner has a way of making the ride better each time, eh? Congrats...good people deserve nice rewards like yours
Lucky girl! Hope to ride with you sometime soon and if I'm lucky, try out your Flux! Dean and Scott just got Czar's and I'm lusting after all your new rides. Perpaps there's a Burner in my future
Ken: Greg can get whatever he wants (regarding a bike). Lynn: you are more than welcome to give it a spin. I see a Czar in your future though -
I'll tell you what I'm going to get, dropped, that's what! As soon as she started demoing the Burner and the Flux I got pulled all over the trail. It's going to take something special to keep up...what to do?
Sounds like you tried the Burner too. Why do you think I'll want the Czar over the Flux or the Burner?
Welcome fellow Homer!!! I love my Sultan! Maybe one day I will replace it with a Czar, but this Sultan is still the special "Saved the Vacation of a Lifetime" bike I bought in Oregon! Congrats on your beautiful new ride!
You like the big wheels and the carbon Czar seems pretty sweet ... except they do not make it in a small. :?: The Burner has more travel 5.5" and a slacker head tube vs. the Flux at 4.72" of travel and 68º head tube. The amount of travel that the Flux has is plenty for the trail riding that I do. @Quinn: totally different bike than the Pivot
I looked at the Czar as well when shopping for a replacement to the TRc. I was pretty bummed that they didn't offer it in our size. Kay, I'm sure the ride is different! I was hoping for a little more detail as to HOW it's different.
I will admit I am a Turner whore - and I do love my big wheels but I have a 5-spot that is perfect for me on the descents and my Sultan is a dream for climbing. I figured the Burner wouid be the best of both worlds. I will have to try them all. For now, I'm with Ginny, I have no complaints with my Sultan it's been an excellent bike for me. Just window shopping. How tall are you two - Quinn and Kay? I don' think I'm that much taller than either of you at 5'4" I ride a medium Turner.
+1 for any review-type info on this new offering. (Thinking the wife could enjoy it.) +1 interesting that you went from Pivot Mach 5 to Flux 27.5. Thanks again for the infoshare.
