I've never raced before either and signed up last week in the Beginner category.

I'm pretty sure it will be led by the Non-Dot folks. Most (if not all) of them were at the pre-ride last year. A good 10-15 people showed up and it was an awesome group ride. We got a chance to stop and practice some challenging sections of the course - like trying to roll over that blasted boulder halfway down Rock-It in order to get a better line for the rock climb. I remember Jon Kearley standing next to the rock ready to catch anyone in case they didn't make it and started to fall to the right.

I am actually looking forward to trying that section again during the next group ride (with help) - I want to conquer that part! :bang:

I tried going over that beastly rock and fell to the right... Luckily unclipping in time and braced my fall.

Hopefully the Non-Dot guys can give some pointers on this area.

Hey guys sorry I'm late to the conversation. Sea Otter and work seem to have gotten in the way. Jon will be there on the 19th for sure. I'm hoping to make it as well. My back went out two weeks ago at the VQ and I still haven't even looked at a bike (sorta). If my back is better even a little better, I will be there too.
I'm sure Jon and I can give you some pointers on conquering the rock section.

If you're registered for the race you should have received an email with the details.

Meeting is at the parking lot near the church off of Alicia at 8:30.

Alright, less than a week for the Aliso race. I'm getting pretty stoked about this.
Anyone up for cheering on some racers out on the course??

Race spots are still available for our Aliso race this Saturday, 5/3. Online registration ends Wednesday, 4/30. You can also register in person at packet pickup this Thursday, 5/1 at Rock n' Road - Laguna Niguel from 4-7pm. Lastly, there is day of registration available, just be sure to get there early (6:30am)!

Check out the website for a course map and even a video!

Be sure to bring your friends and family to cheer on racers and to do the kids race. If you are unable to race but would like to be a part of the action please considervolunteering! If you'd rather just spectate, bring your cowbell and get loud!

PS. If you've already signed up for the race you should've gotten another email yesterday with all the details.

    Happy Trails!
