I would not say mush, very easy to coast right through it. I think luge is worse bc of the speed. If you wait till the end of the day conditions will be better = ) But some very small mud patches in all the same spots.

Went up STT @ 10am today up to Old Camp an back down the Luge with no problems, nicely cool conditions and perfectly tacky trails--a few puddles on the way up to Old Camp, but nothing significant. Give the Luge 6-12 hours after the last rain and you are usually good to go.

Carbonlegs Mario, it (Luge) was fine around 10-11, maybe you got to it earlier and it was slippery? Good tacky up top but further down maybe some dirt washed away so a little chunkier and more exposed rocks(?) Just a few small avoidable puddles/mud spots on the way up STT.

Rode the Luge today, it's in great shape! No mud, the tree had been cleared, nice and tacky.

OTOH, the "trail" on the way to Old Camp is apparently open to motor vehicles.
It is now a nice flat dirt road for a couple miles, and a motorcycle was up there doing rooster tails on the hills.
Other than that, great day out and a great ride.

Not open to motor vehicles or motos. They're up there illegally.

That's what I thought, but seems they don't know it.
apparently they are up there a lot. I've seen motos the last two time I've done OC, and the trail is mostly flat from trucks/jeeps.
Only illegal if your caught, or so the saying goes.

I rode Harding to Joplin and down the Luge and it was evident that there had been motorcycles on Joplin and the Luge. I think that they use the Luge as access to the truck trail and then take Joplin up to Main Divide. Joplin and the Luge were both in great shape!

Snitches get stitches haha I was a the flag on Thursday and I think I saw the same group you did. Those guys were chill and considerate of the guys on bikes. Why would you want them to get into trouble. Asshole move man.

Same reason why bikes aren't allowed on hiking only trails.
