Server load got up really high again today. The database had tons of locked queries. I have an idea why but going to have to do a few tests at home...

Could be searches triggering the locks?

I'm leaning towards scheduled scripts/jobs since it almost exclusively happens in the morning around the same time. Most of the day the load is just fine - under 1.0. Today when I noticed all the locked queries the load was over 100. 8-[ So scripts/jobs are what I'm going to look at next.

How about ponying up for a Oracle license? Now you see what happens when you use open sores software.

    Seriously?

I've seen people blow up Oracle just as easily as any other DB they touch.

My money is on George. He's been working out while Von Dork has been busy changing poopy diapers and pretending to do secret rides with Bananauphisseat.

    Well, I hadn't noticed these problems...until now.
I was unable to load the site for the last hour or so. I'm currently on a computer running XP, using either Firefox v3.6.13 or IE v8 on a fast network that had no problems with any other sites during the same time.

I sacrificed a goat and burned a 5 dollar bill, then spit into the ashes. Made a paste with the ashes then put a sign of a triangle on the top of my laptop and problem is solved. There was also an incantation spoken but I need to charge for this service so I won't be able to tell you it.

    He's being sarcastic :)

98% sure the slowdowns are caused by the daily backups which have been taken longer and longer and it looks like the backup drive itself is running out of disc space. Will update when I get it rescheduled or otherwise squared away.

At this rate there won't be a need for backups. :)
