A friend of mine just got they bikes stolen sometime Sunday afternoon/night, Trek Remedy 8 (small) Orange/Root-beer color and Specialized Stumpjumper Blue/red Comp (medium). Bike were stolen in the city of Garden Grove Blvd. and Lewis St. Located close to The Block in Orange.

Please keep an eyes out, should you see anything please let me know.
I have been around those two bikes for so long, I can spot the bikes right away when I see it.

Police reports was taken, they left the bolt cutter on the balcony, which the police is using for evidence.

Sorry to hear about that - can you post some pictures of the bikes?

Also, the model year and any custom parts that would make it stand out?

yes, double heavy duty thick cable lock on 2nd floor balcony, Theft climb up the balcony and cut the cable and unload it somehow over the balcony. Balcony facing away from stress, so it is not visible from the street.
