    Granny,
So much has changed since my heyday of intense riding/racing.

It immediately comes to mind in my condition that this should all be a no-brainer. There should only be ONE type of "Tubeless", the "Right One".

Instead of Stan's focusing on how to convert anything to tubeless, it seems very obvious right now that either it's UST or it's not. Either a tire can be used tubeless or not.

I can't imagine this variable happening in the auto industry!?!? So it should not be potentially confusing in the Cycling industry.

This coming from one hypersensitive to a bad combo right now....;)

I say you lawyer up! At a minimum, to cover lost wages and out-of-pocket costs, if any.

No NN Markings but does state:
Snake Skin Tubeless Ready, Evo PaceStar Triple Compound
    PaceStar 3

Hmmm. That's interesting. Both Stock OEM Schwalbe tires have failed me on this bike.

Had Cathy wheel me out to the shop. Looks like sealant just blew out between the tire and rim in mass exodus in one spot. Tire is on the rim ready to be inflated. No signs of damage. Scary!

I recently needed to replace a front rim, I was running a Schwalbe Racing Ralph's on the front. The Path laced me up a new wheel and would not setup a non tubeless tire on a tubeless rim with out a tube in it, so I ended up buying an tubeless ready 2.4 EVO Pacestar Snakeskin Racing Ralph tire....not cheap! I run many Schwalbe tires and my current favorite tire is a UST Hans Dampt.

So Mikey I am leaning towards your rim not being a UST rim. Or just a bad combo.

    Yup!

    Guys,
What DT Swiss Rim should I get relaced on the front?

...and should I ask Yeti to fund it? Does that seem reasonable?

Hey Mikie, I hope you feel better soon. Double check the bead on those Schwalbe's to make sure they are good. I literally broke the bead on a Schwalbe while running Stan's. The tire looked good visually but it wouldn't stay on the rim ever again.

Don't re-use the tire. Pretty likely to have casing damage. Get a new helmet too.

I have moved away from DT Swiss Rims, my favorites are Mavic UST rims followed by Stans Rims. I have a bunch of Chris Kings hubs so I have never looked hard a Crank Brothers wheels but I would if I did not have $ tied up in CKs.

Funny you should say that. I was sponsored on Sun Rims for years but I always preferred Mavic. XM819's?

Thanks you guys! I really appreciate it...

Because you landed with the bars turned to the right, rolled the bead off the left and burped sealant. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it!

To be honest with you, it looks like a bad take off to me. It's almost like you pulled too hard on the left and made it so you landed at an angle. Of course, I know nothing, and am just basing my opinion on the video.

2nd day of recovery from surgery. Only took one plate and two pins to hold the collarbone together.
I feel soooooo much better, having that shoulder strut supporting again. Day two with no meds as well.

I read everyones well wishing over and over. It's nice to be a member of the STR family!

Mikie, Mikie, Mikie! I'm off the site for a week and look what happened!! :?: Ouch! Sorry to see this happen, and I'm glad to see you healing up. Twenty years ago I shattered my right hip and broke the femur off completely. Took 2 1/2 years, and 3 surgeries to heal, all the time not knowing whether I'd be able to walk again without crutches or a cane. Fortunately things did work out, although it did leave my right leg 1 1/4 inch shorter than the left leg. Oh well, at least I can walk and ride. Relax, take it easy, (take Rossage up on his offer or I'll bring you one up!). Gotta agree with your bud Scottay about landing. The video looks like you did land a little crossed up with your h-bars turned to the right. Landing on the front tire first, turned sideways will burp it every time, especially if you run low tire pressure. I don't know about DT rims, but if you're running a rim strip set up, (ghetto tubeless), rather then a UST rim, that's an accident ready to happen. You'll hear from people saying they've never had a problem. My answer to them is it just hasn't happened yet, but it will. I tried ghetto tubeless when it came out in the early 2000's. It didn't work out too well so I decided to wait until they came out with a tubeless rim. I been running Mavic 819s since '04, (823's are also UST but wider for fr/dh use), and various tire combos through the years. I'll never go back to tubes again. So Mikie, enjoy some cold IPA's and heal up fast 'cause I miss your ride reports and mostly, your sense of humor! -Lloyd
