X-ray this past Monday showed some separation from two of the bones from the screws, so now I have re-inforcement and strict orders NOT to do anything stupid (which I haven't been good about mind you ;) ).

I think I'll listen this time.....Good news is the movement doesn't warrant a second surgery, nor does is set-back my recovery. I think my ortho regrets not putting me in a hard-cast...LOL

    But you gotta ease off!

    Speaking from recent experience:

Listen to the Ortho - you can mess this up and be rehabbing way longer than you want to believe.

    Back off!:)

Yes...listen to ortho...I was put in a hard cast...then after 6 weeks he put me in a soft cast but said if I did *anything* out of direction he would put me back in the hard...also told me if I was 20 something it would have been another hard cast but he thought he could trust me ... I did good and healed completely...actually stronger than ever.

    Yes

61 days post-surgery and I've finally got the brace off!! WooHoo. I couldn't be happier. I'm cleared to ride smooth trails only, as the hand is super weak and the doc says I can't hang on. Did the strength test and my right hand got a 60 whereas my left: 7 LOL.
Sooooooooo, the stairsteps revenge ride will have to wait.

What are some nice smooth trails around? B* is like a highway these days I hear. Anyone have suggestions on "butter-trails"?

    Congrats on the brace removal.

If your hand is still that weak, I'd stay away from any long descents until you build strength back up. extended downs can be taxing on a weak wrist/hand, along with good brake control.

Love those dynaflex balls. Used one to improve my strength for tennis for several years.

Kelly Whiting is not bad as long as you stay on the Whiting Road down (fire road), not long like B*. I'd give a week or two.

I'm gonna be a good girl this time. Got a trainer from a friend, and a nice slick from Irv so I can still "ride" my shiny precious. If ya see me running at Oaks stay the hell outta my way or I'm gonna flag all your Strava segments as hazardous ;)

dang........ that sux to hear. Well, at least the healing should be better with the new bling. Maybe you can have your doc prescribe you a SS29er for rehab.

    Heal up quick!
