So my Stumpy wasn't shifting well in the rear. I changed the cable and housing. When i opened up the shifter, saw some dirt and gunk in there. felt like i had to take it apart, clean it out and relube it. Did all that, and when i put it all back together, i had 1 part leftover. Pic below.

    WHERE DOES IT GO???!??!??!?!!?!??!

Looked on SRAM site for parts list schematic, its not there, checked a few other forums that had some rebuild guides but the internals look diff. They were for 9spd XO and X9 RDs. Youtube also had a vid i watched but i don't see the part that i have left over.

    help appreciated. Thanks. photo.JPG

Did something similar with my X9 shifter, but luckily no "spare" parts leftovers...:)

BTW, you know you don't need to unscrew anything to replace the cable, yes? You just pry open the rubber cover (in your pic) with your finger and insert the cable through that hole. No screws, nothing. Hope it helps next time!!.

Just in case anyone else gets stuck like i did. here is a pic of where it goes. The trigger has a axle that it moves on. where the trigger housing goes around the axle, there is a small groove for the spring. Trigger spring.jpg

    Thanks everyone.
