It may not be a "legit" black by other bike park standards but has a few tricky sections which are far from beginner.. I think a lot of beginners would be in deep $hit in a few sections in my opinion

They can be for sure.. it's not to say that 80% of the trail isn't pretty doable for anyone with intermediate skills, it's just a few parts that require a bit more (just my own opinion).. but most videos I've seen, even my own, just don't show how loose steep and chunky a few sections are

    I think it could be.

    1 Beginner (green)
    2 Intermediate (blue)
    3 Advanced (black)
    4 Expert (double black)
    5 Pro only (red)

I'd rank it around 2.5-3 on the scale (this scale is what Snow Summit uses according to their employees). Also remember that Snow Summit advertises this as an adventure park (to all bike riders) not a gravity park like some other resorts do.

Based on how they rate trails in Whistler I would call it black. It seems if there are any required advanced sections the trail get black designation even if the rest of the trail would be a green.

If you are thinking of Gatos Ravine, that is hardly a black diamond run (although it is marked as so). Geez I can do it... only the jumps make it more challenging but you can ride around all of them.

Black at BB is a whole other thing... think black diamond on ski runs... I love BB but I stay to ridge and generally ride up Mill Creek rd (don't do the lifts) to Pine Knot trail (via Skyline). I can do most of Pine Knot but I consider some parts to be advanced intermediate and I need to walk (just working on getting over my fear). Just make sure you have on shoes made for walking and know that in BB runs are more extreme just becuase of hte nature of the materials - loose powery granular stuff (whereas Mt. Laguna is lovely hard packed flowy stuff)...

Going up this next Tuesday (7/2) and hoping the trails are nice and quiet...

lol. i didn't realize that was you.

yeah i was talking about gatos. i've been to bb before and am ok with most of the trails with a little walking here and there (little ryan says i suck). i don't have any issues with pine knot.
