My name is Sky and I own Velo Cult Bike Shop. New to the forum but long time mountain biker. Started racing mountain bikes at 9 years old in 1984 and continued for the next 17. Now I ride for fun.

Below is my Curtlo 29er with Action Tec fork that OMR might recognize. I also ride a Santa Cruz Superlight. Outside of those I have about 70 vintage mountain bikes that I take out on occasion but the two modern bikes get the most miles for sure.

Here I am on my 1932 Schwinn Excelsior Klunker in Mammoth. All period correct for a Klunker from about 1978 except for the tires. I race this bike in the downhill at the Keyesville Classic every year although I will miss that race this year for the first time in 22 years. First baby is due right around the time of Keyesville.

Dude 70 old bikes? Got a pic of your quiver? Welcome to STR. Are those period correct flip flops? :)

Soon I will actually be adding a bike museum to my web site. We'll be launching it with 120 vintage road and mountain bikes and plan to add about 2 bikes per week indefinitely. They obviously won't all be mine but my mountain bikes will be on there. Here's a few non studio photos to hold you over until then. A good cross section of different styles of bikes. I have to hold off on the really good photos until the museum launches.

    Here's my Bontrager Cyclocross
    ">[IMG]

My 1980 Chris King Cielo. Only about 4 were made. Still 2 years before the Stumpjumper came out
    ">[IMG]

    1985 Cook Bros.

In the process of restoring this one. The first rear suspension mountain bike. Skinner Descender hardnose from 1984. 24 of these were made.

1991 Merlin. This was the Campagnolo display bike at the bike shows introducing Campy Record OR componenty to the world

1989 Ritchey P23. The P23 has the most national and international wins of any MTB to date.

1982 Motocruiser. This was the very first prototype Motocruiser. This brand went onto become Yeti in 1985
    ">[IMG]

1993 Bontrager Race. This one now has blue Cook cranks and a Blue Ringle seat post.

1981 Lighthouse Chapparal. Lighthouse designed the first Specialized bikes including the Allez, Sequoia, Expedition and Stumpjumper. This is a very clean fillet brazed version of the Stumpy. This is also and example of what the museum will look like on-line. Each bike will have about 20 details photos.

One of the first Mountain Cycles.

    1988 Steve Potts Custom

    1992 Salsa
    ">[IMG]

1993 Retrotec Dirt Craft. It has a fork for a rear end. Look really closely and you can see that it has cables for chainstay's and seat stays. About 50 of these were made.

Here's my early Sonoma Crosstrac for those into early dual squishies.

Good to hear from you Sky... I see that you are taking care of my Curtlo... I really miss riding the single speed... although my back doesn't! Thanks for posting those pics... brings back ALOT of memories. Speaking of cable steat stays, one bike I didn't see was the Slingshot... do you have one of those in your collection?

Not to pat my own back but there's not many of the super cool vintage bikes I don't have. I don't collect mass production bikes, just cool custom made one's. I still have never found a Doug Bradbury Manitou or a Cunningham so those are still on my must find list. They are also two of the hard to find and rarest bikes too which means when and if I ever do find I likely won't be able to afford them.

1993 Slingshot single speed. They put the head tube so low on these that it takes a lot of goofy stuff to get the bars higher. This photo was taken years ago and now it has a more much more normal quill stem on it.
