Apparently it's just a lot of database action going on which naturally happens as number of users/traffic increase. I changed some settings on the forum software (you might notice the changes) to hopefully help. If it continues then I'll look into upgrading the server again.

When in doubt, just throw more hardware at it. It's just like getting bigger bike.

Occasionally, I have some slow loads or the need to refresh here, but it's rare and not a problem. I haven't seen anything particularly unusual for the past couple days.

MTBR on the other hand has been extremely slow consistently for years. Moreover, if you go to some of the really long threads, such as "show your singlespeed" in the Singlespeed forum, I always get prompts if I want to run a script or not - what's up with that? STR will never and could never be as slow as MTBR; the folks running MTBR don't care about that site any more, I think.

My computer will lock out and just freeze on a blank yahoo home page at times. That or it says I have sent duplicated post and will redirect me back to the thread. All my other internet applications work fine. I thought I was the only one and ran all my diag software thinking my computer had a problem.

No MS software, thank you :) It's running on MySQL.

Forum software (vbulletin) is the vast majority of the server load and I don't like messing with it too much - that includes its database. Don't have the time or desire right now to learn their proprietary software inside and out to a point where I can start optimizing it for speed. Not to mention that if I did that there might be upgrade headaches down the road because of the customizations.

However, There could be some speed increases to be had with simply changing some options in it though. Also, there might be some more optimization to be done on the homepage which is something I made and know.

It's quite snappy now. Maybe because everyone bailed during the maintenance period? :)

Thanks, Adam. Anybody else have the lack of check mark issue?
