I rode S.O. yesterday and there was a large group of people doing trail maintenance on several trails. Particularly Goat, Cactus, Yucca, Deer Loop, and some of Chutes. Does anyone know who organized this? There must have been a total of at least 50 people. Most of the work was done on cactus. I am just curious, I would like to volunteer for some trail work. but, didn't see anything posted on the local forums.

By the way, conditions were primo!

I rode there yesterday as well. I felt kind of guilty riding while they were all working. I was heading down Barham Ridge and there was a woman building up part of the trail so I started slowing down when she yelled "no, hit it fast, I want to see how it holds up". I was happy to oblige!

Check SHARE's facebook for short-notice trail work opportunities as the rains make the dirt workable and highlight drainage issues.

It was fun (and motivating) getting real-time feedback on Yucca while the group I was with was working it. It helped adjust some things that we were doing to keep the trail singletrack and slowly narrow it where it ballons out to 15-20 feet in width.

If anyone feels really guilty, 5-10 minutes on the Mattock or McLeod followed up with a test ride.

Also check this board and the STR Facebook for non-SHARE opportunities under the supervision of one of the OC Parks volunteers.
