Did a late afternoon quick ride and was running short on time due to daylight. Almost took Rock It up to get some steady hill climbing. Instead went for Mathis since the heat was not so bad late. Was mid-way up Mathis and see the Fire Rescue Heli doing loops almost above me. They circled back and dropped a couple of people to help a down rider. To far to see but looks like someone had a "rock sandwich" for dinner. A lot of rescue crews were at the site of the rock garden.

Anyone have info on the crash and burn?? Hope they are ok! Took one pic with the camera phone but not so good. Too Far away.

Rock-it takes down even the best. Its such a lottery with those angled rocks and soon as you go down things are going to break on that cheese grater floor.

OK - here is the scoop:
That was my buddy Ken (Krash) who went down at the end of the rock garden on Rockit... and he went down very very hard. He didn't lose consciousness but was puking pretty badly so I'm sure he had a concussion. Plus he was quite combative (def not normal for Ken).
Couple of guys (Shawn and Dave I think) who were coming up Rockit called 911 for us. Paramedics & firemen were on the scene in about 15 minutes. Then the chopper showed up and flew him away.
I went to the hospital to check on him and he was in the ICU with a skull fracture and a broken pelvis. His wife is there with him.

And yes, he has good insurance...

Send some healing vibes and prayers his way please!!

    Peace -

It hurts all of us to hear that one of the tribe has gone down... we've all been there to one degree or another... not a matter of if... only a matter of when.

Healing vibs from all of us...

Gregg you are correct. I get run through the ringer all the time about the risk, But there is truly a " I am living feeling when on a bike" We all know the inherent risk, but that is life. It is always sad to hear someone being hurt, but Its even worse when you watch a show like the biggest loser. They hurt themselves by doing nothing. I prefer to hurt by exercise. Not sure how this fits, just thinking out loud and praying for a good out come.

I received an update from his wife this morning:
He is having surgery - swelling and bleeding on his brain; not breathing on his own (sounds like he's hooked up to a ventilator).

Be careful out there guys and gals. Hard ground is a respecter of no one.

I'll update later as I receive more info...

And thanks for the prayers, much appreciated.

    Peace -

    Hope is doing Ok!

Thanks for info on status of your buddy. We all have taking falls and even the simplest falls sometimes cause us great damage to our bodies.

Wish him well and a speedy recover. Ride Safe!:)
