EDIT : EVENT AT CAPACITY; REGISTRATION CLOSED

okay peeps. I had to get some motivation but i just committed to doing this again making it 8 years running for RIDE LIKE A KID.

Last year we had local MTB celebrities such as Andy aka Rut as the master of ceremonies, Colin Brown Chicken Brown Cow rocking the grill, 125+ kids, 40 companies, shops and clubs donating killer swag for the kids (including full on mountain bikes!!) and umm, oh yeah we also had one of the greatest mountain bikers of all time join in and ride...no way, WAY!!!!! All that fun and we also found a way to raise enough money to provide 20 bikes to those in need.

Anyway not sure what this year will bring but this is the scoopdillio

DATE IS SUNDAY OCTOBER 5 2014

Location: Irvine regional Park (rest of logistics to follow)

As always we will start off with varied MTB rides based on age/skill followed by a BBQ and free kids raffle.

While the primary goal to instill a love of dirt with the groms, it should be no surprise the mad fun the parents have as their kids providing more “smiles per mile” than any weekend epic ride could offer.

ADVANCED REGISTRATION is REQUIRED (NO EXCEPTIONS) & THE FORMAL REGISTRATION SITE WILL BE AVAILABLE CLOSER TO EVENT DATE I will post the link up in this thread at a later date; you cannot register via STR.

I know there were a few peeps who were not able to join in last year having not registering in time but we are limited to participation as dictated but the parks and insurance coverage. as such please understand this is a requirement and out of our control. Please make sure you register

more info to follow and hope you can join in for what continues to be a amazing day of dirt with our kids.

also anyone who wants to help plan teh event and/or help out as ride leaders and sweepers post up and we'll gladly get you involved

check out the slideshow from last years event

Adam, looks like I won't be able to make the first meeting (I'll be settling in in my new home in Indio). After 3 (4yrs?, I've lost track) yrs I think I got it down - I'll be scattered just as much this year as last. ;)

yep actually worked out for us as well with it moving to sunday. my son has missed his soccer matches each year since the age of 5 to join/help out with the RLK event. he will finally be able to do both that weekend. just as sweet if our football team is playing MNF that week so also wont miss that as well. think i'll be playing lotto as well that week as things never work out that way

    Keeping the rubber side down....

...And all around town is STR's very own MO aka "Me and my Bike".

Last night Mo and Pro BIke Supply pushed it all into the booty, with a bevy of rubbers donated to the grom raffle

More to come from these cool cats and make sure your helmets are on tight as Mo offered to help lead the "bigger kids" ride at Oaks this year which is now informally dubbed the M'Oaks ride :bang:

I signed up my daughter for RLK 8, but the e-mail we received says "a few reminders for the big day Saturday." My wife thought that meant it was Saturday (as in this Saturday). It's a Sunday right? Oct. 5? It does say that elsewhere - but the notice was a little confusing.
