I think that he was the only one to even try that the hip to wall ride at the bottom scored big points. Plus Berrecloth had to lose big point at the top when he was barely on the bike.

even with the bobble up top, I think bearclaws line was SO much more technical than Gee's. it wasn't perfect, but he still hit it. there were a few people that tried the quarter transfer, but he was the only one to stick it.

anyway, for people not paying attention:

    Cam Zink 1st
    Gee Atherton 2nd
    Daren Berrecloth 3rd

But still, outside of one hit, Gee's run was pretty...safe and generic.

Anyway, there's always the next one, hopefully with 80% less feed drop.

to be completely honest, I think the feed wasnt too bad. yeah, it was annoying that it dropped a few times, but it gave me an opportunity to get another beer without missing any aciton. gotta consider, they're doing a webcast from the middle of bum-f*** nowhere. I know I couldn't pull that off smoothly...

This is true. And I managed to get some actual work done, so I guess I can't complain too much. But still, subjecting us to Dweedle Dee and Dweedle Mongoloid was a bit cruel on their part. Oh well, there's always the inevitable DVD/Blu-Ray.

Sick rampage this year. Everything was huge as usual and gnarly but i think it was a little too man made. They need to go back to lines like Berrecloth rode his second time. There are some sick drops but they need to take some of the wooden features out. Its a little too perfectly groomed on some parts and it doesn't resemble the freeride aspect too much. I did love watching it though and congrats to Zink!

You mean the 3d Bluray, I am pretty sure I saw more then one 3d cameras.

Yeah they had some feed issues, I think they did a worse job of explaining why all the delays, really why are you waiting for the course to clear when the last rider has been sitting waiting for 304 min for a score and then another 3-4 min have gone by. I think some of it was wind would pick up and rider would not drop in yet , but all they had to do was say that but then again look at the announcers. The best part was when the one guy was telling cam if that was you would be broken, and said it to him a couple of times. You could tell by Cam's voice the second time it was ok dude shut the f up.

Well, grasshopper... after watching this I feel totally inadequate. Somehow my 3" credit card air just doesn't seem to count now! Totally blown away with the skill these riders have... and extra large balls!

Somehow, I think Pinkbike will have a great cut up and ready in the next few days, and the 3d camera shots will make their way into someone's (NWD perhaps, since they've been posting the video blogs) video release.

Thats true, and your expecting a bunch of mountain bikers to run a live feed to the world. Can't expect much, i was just happy to watch 4 hours of ballsy mountain biking.

I dont expect to see anything online, Red Bull is going to keep the rights to this and hold almost all the video back until they do their DVD release like they did last year. From what I understand no one was allowed to shoot video so Red Bull had control of all of the video from the event.

Need you ask? Atherton is the media darling. Props to Gee's skill as a DH racer, however Berrecloth is a far ballsier and more inventive freerider.

just got back from Rampage. Long ass drive. The last huge sender that Atherton did was pretty god damn insane. I'm not sure the camera's do it justice on the magnitude of the jump into the wall ride. The event did not fail me. 3 days of the worlds top freeriders going huge on EVERY section. there is nothing that isn't huge.

I agree with Mike. That sender Gee landed was huge, but there was really no angle on a camera that would do it justice. Well, unless the camera was right under the jump, but that wouldn't have been safe. Zink's 360 was deserving of the win, but Gee vs. Deron for me is a coin flip. Deron's run was tech and different than everyone, but Gee hauled azz and landed that sender that broke off Romo and McCaul.

Watching in person, I can assure you Gee's run was anything but safe and generic. That line was really burly, and the speed he rode it was incredible.

In fact, I don't think safe and generic would be an accurate description of what any of the riders did out there.
