I suppose to me it is a fact, regardless of my ability to prove it to someone else. Just like my belief in Jesus Christ, I may not be able to prove it, but that does not change my perception. And as we all know, ones own perception is reality, and fact in this case. As for your agreeing or not, I may have made a false presumption about your belief.
I say stop the judicial and religious intervention in the human rights area. It should not be up to the government or religion to decide what should be common sense. Just let natural selection take place. Order will come naturally. Just remember "free will".
Well.... None of the right wingers lightened up on Britney Spears sister Jamie. When she got pregnant it was blamed on poor parenting. Maybe having five kids requires you to spend more time at home teaching then about life and not pursuing a carer. I think boyfriend should have a say in it too.
Am I wrong to want a clear difference and line between political and personal morality? What is good and works for one person may not be in the best interest for the economy and nation. Am I a conservative? No. Can you call me a liberal? Hell no. Give me a nation that will govern in the best interests of me and my fellow Americans. Am I asking for too much?
(my) last word on the subject. roe v. wade is a "super precedent" that has been the law of the land for 36 years, and has always had the support of a majority of the public. you don't have to agree with it, and everyone can choose to keep a baby. but if you're hell-bent on changing the law, i would suggest that you move to a country with more restrictive reproductive rights. iraq and iran come to mind (door slams). i suggest everyone go to the ocean, take some deep breaths, and think about how lucky we are to live here. "hey, i think i see russia!"
I don't listen to/watch that tabloid junk so I offer no comment on Jamie Spears or whomever. My response was deeper and more important than that, it's just having compassion for people who are in crisis and going through tough times. Be careful with your judgments, they have a way of coming back and hitting at home.
First of all it wasen't tabloid junk. I don't remember who it was but it was a news anchor. He basted Jamie Spears mother for what a horid job she did raising her. Then in another show he said how bad he felt for Sara Palin and how everyone should respect her privacy. For the same situation! And last time I checked we are all entitled to our opinions. And there is no need for me to be careful as nothing like this could possibly happen in my home. We will just have to wait and see after four more years in Irac under McCain. I'm done with this thread. To one sided for me! Peace out!!!
you're thinking of Bill O'Reilly  "Spear's mother = horrible Palin = feel sorry for" - O'reilly I <3 the Daily Show with Jon Stewart
Pat, Take it easy; don't get your panties in a wad. I'm standing with my original quote: "Don't kick a man (or woman....or child) when they are down." It's just plain human decency.
Reproductive freedom. That's called "not having sex". Nope. You missed the whole, sex then conception then baby thing. And another thing, my logic is not based on Monty Python...I'd recommend you look elsewhere for your guidance. Don't mistake this issue as one of religion or choice that impacts your wife's choice. It is not an issue of choice any more than slavery was an issue of choice. It's not an issue of what a woman can do with her body. A woman can't do what she wants with her own body and neither can men. Laws restrict those freedoms given the right set of circumstances. I know moms who'd take them.
there are way more babies in those situations than your "mom's" could ever help. lack of healthcare and access to clinics only condemns many poor women--and their children--to lives of poverty. it's called "unintended consequences". no reproductive freedom equals gender slavery... and i'll bet if your wife or daughter were raped and impregnated, you'd be singin' a different tune. your lack of compassion and your high level of indoctrination are truly frightening. i know that you're a friend of pat, so i'll be nice and try to ignore your rants.
