Quinn you were there? The one race I miss?! Shoot man. I worked later than I wanted and that threw off my whole afternoon schedule. How did you do?

We had a great time at last night's race, thanks to all the folks who stopped by our tent to say hi. It is a great vibe out there, and it's nice to be a part of it.

Here are a couple of our pics to share. Thanks Neil, Melody, David, and Called to Creation for some of them below!

Lety, I looked for you because I thought for sure you'd be there! Flora and I decided rather last minute to race. It was horrible! It was fun! It was horrible and fun all at once!

    I did fine. I came in 6th.

Last night started off well……….and then not so good#-o
Got a nice start and after the first lap was 5sec behind theleader…….just where I wanted to be. Then½ way into the 2 lap there was a crash in the single track (rider was ok) and I got separated from the leader. Being my rookie season (not knowing what I am doing):) decided to hit it hard to catch him…..the result was I crashed and broke my break lever.#-o
Trying to ride that course on one break made it tough andreally slowed me down. On the last lap where there is the steep loose DH section the rear break wasn’t enough so I “forced”a slide out crash because I couldn’t stop.
    Score = 2 crashes. 1 accidently……….1 on purpose.
Good news is I finished and didn’t quit. A few scrapes here and there but can’t wait until next Tuesday!

Ugh! We're too old for stuff like that! Hope you heal up quickly and get the bike going again soon. I have your bottle, I'll give it to you next week.

    Bacon was awesome.

    2 pieces before the race.

1st lap nearly went OTB as the handup on the right was right at the bump.

    2nd lap scored a piece.

3rd lap scored 2 pieces...stuck one in the back pocket and sucked/chewed on the other one until I hit the Willow/Sand/Singletrack.

4th lap was warned there was no more bacon...until I held up my "stash" from the back pocket.

After the finish, went over and helped cook some more bacon.

I thought the bacon was pretty good.

Oh, and there was some kind of race where I contributed to the size of the field and just tried to finish before dark...and before they ran out of bacon.

I think if there was bacon...and beer...I would never have finished.

Is there anything bacon can't do?

Yeah, the kids race was not marked very well last night for sure. Kids were all over the place. I also cannot believe they had the under 8 kids go up that steep a$$ climb over towards the jungle. All of them had to get off and needed help getting their bikes up the hill....not a really good idea. Probably okay for the 9 and over kids but surely ridiculous for the younger kids. Heck half the adults barely clear that. Maybe Linked had a bad night, but they really need way more cones and helpers directing the kids. I think they should probably keep the same course for the U8 kids so they know where they are going week to week. Heck, we tried to pre ride and had no clue where they were routing the kids. I appreciate the Linked guys putting on the race, and they are a lot of fun, but its hard rationalizing to a 7 year old that rode his heart out only to get lost while seeing other kids ending up in front after taking a different route. They simply don't get that it's all for fun.

Another great event, Not sure how the course worked out but up on the hill a few guys getting confused.. But all in all still a great event, Ryan Hughes ex 250 pro factory team GREEN racer was in the house.. With only one more race in the first half of the series it seems to still be getting lots of riders.. Here is a few photos!

As a Linked member i apologize for the incorrect scoring on the 6-8 kid race as it got messed up when a kid followed by some more kids toke the wrong turn. Unusual mistake by the group but by no means a task we cant handle, we are humans too and mistakes happen.

Looking forward to help and serve the bike community through the kids race at OTH.

I know I'll pobably be getting heat from this but am I the only beginner thinking that bigginer class is on the super fast side on these weekly races? I know I am not a Lance Armstrong but as a noob I can hit Fullerton Loop in 53-54 min every day on the 11.4 mile course. Thats not super fast but I don't think its super slow either. But here we have guys running 9 miles on just over 34 min in B3 group with a aveg of 18:11 a lap.....that is moviing!!! I guess in reality I am not that fast as I thought I was but man these top 10 guys need to move up and let the snails have some glory or atleast a pint ! Now I know we have lots to put into consideration, rider, strength, course, bike etc....but it's hard to fathom guys running that hard as a beginner......show me your program man cuz this brother wants to know the secrets on your life man !!
