Ava got 1st Place this week in the Girls' 6-8. Dad didn't fare well again, crashing out near the end of lap 2 in Sport 4--I was actually doing ok on my 90s-era back up bike. I OTB'd pretty hard ending up with trail rash all along my right side, bad enough to go to the hospital to check it out. Nothing broken, so that's good. Wife gave me an earful though, lol.
Good to see Cully out there! I've ridden Moto with him in the past and he is fast fast fast!!!! Super fun guy to ride with.
Memorable evening... - Had not seen my hero (Andy Rut) and Heather in...... quite a while! #-o Always makes my day when I do! -Crossed paths with quite a few other people I was not expecting to see! -The Slasher took home 1st Place in Expert / Pro (woohoo) -Ava, Ryan and Little Vincent crushed it! (Didn't see the race... Not sure what other STR kids were racing) -Plain and simple: I am beyond proud of everyone on the Fullerton Bicycles racing team!!! Doesn't matter if they finish first or second from last (which happened).... Wonderful people! A true family! Beyond awesome listening to teammates plan weekday / weekend rides, family dinners, movie nights etc. Truly amazing!!!!! -I am quite pleased with the new speaker (loud.. loud... loud) -I am quite pleased with the new cast of bell ringers / cheerleaders (last night was sexy lady night) -Pretty awesome watching the racers "rock-to-the-rhythm" as they zoomed past our group. Last but not least... Memory of the night was watching Lety zoom past me (total surprise... I'm still grinning from ear to ear) See ya'al next week!
My son raced the 6-8 group and had a blast. He believes he came in 4th, and I will not be one to burst his bubble so 4th it is! LOL. Heckling was even funner than I remember from last season. Maybe cuz we added the money pit. Maybe because of all the fun people around who got in on the heckling action. I love seeing peoples faces change from misery to a smirk as you scream at them when they go by. The highlight of my night was watching a dad (who was clearly sacraficing his own race) following his son giving tips and encouragement on that second lap. so cool! that's what OTH is about for me Edit: here's a pic of Oliver with his "game face" on :bang:
The B3s got alot faster this year. I got my ass handed to me last night. After placing in the top ten several times last year, I was planning on doing 2 or 3 races in beginner this year and then moving up to sport. After last night, not so much. Suffered through the race and has a crash on lap 2 and ended with a 24th place finish. Despite it all, I still had a blast!
OMG so much fun. A lot harder than I thought. Maybe there is something to the whole warm up thing?! :?: My quads were seized up from the getgo because of that. I couldn't get my legs to loosen up the whole race, it was just painful. Live and learn. Will be back. The cheering section was amazing. I had a great experience with everyone who was passing being super nice and offering encouragement. I was too cold and sore to stick around. I just wanted to get home to my foam roller! See you all next for more fun!
Cully was super fun to race with. He was so funny though.... One moto he would be on it and would run away. The next he wouldn't be feeling it and would be 15th.
yep, and this is the week we really put times under the microscope....making sure the beginner class is doing what it should. Thanks for the photos and experience. it was a killer night of fun and community as always and we love the STR contingent, and all this community brings to OTH. Keep up the good work!
2nd race and twice the fun. Week 1 I was in the Beginner class and this week decided to move up to Sport. Boy do I have a lot to learn.

Just a heads up.. fullerton bicycles is the featured shop this week, june 4th. volunteers are needed. if you would like to help out, shoot me a private message. duties include course marshalling, sign-ups, leg marking (girls like this one), kids race, canopy and table set-up and teardowns, and just about anything else you can think of. it's also a lot of fun and it feels good knowing that you are giving back to the community! have a blessed day.
