It's that time of year to start bee-eye-itch'n and 'plain'n about the Lakers. As it stands today not much to moan about at 7-1 record.

I've only caught one game on FSW (since I'm down in SD, I don't get KCAL) so I was wondering how has Artest been playing as Ariza's replacement? I was not a big fan of the Lakers losing Ariza especially for Artest. So how's he playing?

I will predict the Lakers will win the championship against the Celtics even with Artest.

Artest has been playing better as the season has progressed. He's not in the form he was at with the Rockets in the playoffs last year, but he'll get there eventually.

The big problem is Gasol. I hope he can come back soon and not re-injure the hamstring. He's the key to another Title!

    GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Bench needs to stop giving up leads. I cringe everytime the second unit comes in.

Artest is playing well, just needs to hit those free throws.

    Cant wait for Gasol's return.

The Lakers punked the Suns last night. The Suns looked tired since they played the night before against the Hornets. The Suns couldn't get their running game going and the Lakers shut down their 3 point shot game. Steve Nash is one brilliant player. I absolutley love that guy! Lakers play the Nuggets tonight in Denver. Can't wait to see the Bird Man in action! I'm a Laker hater, but seriously, the Lakers are tremendously stacked with talent. They will win another ring this season. I always liked Artest especially when he was playing with my beloved Sacramento Kings. The guy is a baller and has heart! He wants a ring bad. (Thank heavens for Tyreke Evans.)

Good to see Gasol back in the lineup after his guest stint on CSI: Miami.

Oh, and lookee here the Lakers are Number 1 in ESPN's weekly power ranking.
Now if both Bynum AND Gasol stay healthy for an extended period together this season; this should be fun to watch.

How about Kobe's behind the backboard shot against the Thunder? Nice.

Where's Joe T? I need some Laker love here. I have no friends down here in San Diego who are Laker fans to jaw with.

I know this is the easier leg in their schedule but wow, they look good. Here's the line againt the Hornets (I know, points don't tell everything but sheesh, the scoring from the Kobe cast look good): Drew 21 pts, Pau 14, Ron 16, Kobe 18 and a monster dunk from Lamar set the tone for a 27-11 in the 2nd. Nice!

(mouse jockey loves to have HD when he watches the Lakers.)

I've had The Pub turned off, but stepped in to wish my compadre Dino a happy birthday. Been on the Laker bandwagon since 1963 :bang:

Hard to say if this group will be motivated like they were last year. I'm hoping Ron-Ron will help in this department since he hasn't got himself a ring yet. We've got some good tests coming up this month so I'll be anxious to see how they handle them.

So far, they have not played many of the better teams and the majority of their games have been at home. January and March will be brutal with lots of games and many of them on the road. Meanwhile we have Miami and Phoenix to deal with this weekend.

Unbelievable shot by Kobe at the buzzer. Off the backboard, off balance, 3 points. Wow.

    Here's what J.A. Andade says,

"...(Kobe's) blood temperature drops off the bottom of the thermometer in moments like that. He’s not known for missing those shots. He’s known for making them. That’s why he’s the best option for a last-second shot in the history of the NBA."

In the history of the NBA?? Even Phil Jackson said he'd rather have Kobe in that situation than Jordan. Can you believe that?

"The most telling statement was made just outside the Laker locker room, where Phil Jackson stood outside waiting for an electric cart to drive him down the tunnel and to his car. I told him Kobe’s shot showed why I’d take Bryant over anyone in the final seconds, even the guy who used to wear No. 23. That caused Jackson to raise his eyebrows. Now maybe with six seconds left, enough time to create a good look, I’d go with Jordan. But with only enough time to take a dribble or two, or to catch and fire, I’d go with the best bad shot-maker ever. Because even when it’s a bad shot, Kobe gives you a good shot at winning.

Jackson processed it all, then said two words that resonated as much as Bryant’s three-pointer: “I agree.” "

Hmmm, the championship is stacking up just as I thought. Lakers and a rejuvinated (and dangerous) Celtics team for the win. Can the Celtics get by the new "Superman" (and a slower VC) like they got by the old? I'm looking forward to watching the East series as much as the West.

As always, if the Lakers stop the Suns perimeter game and slow that pesky Canadian down, they will win.

C'mon Celtics! Lakers and Celtics again, I'd love to see another!

    (i actually like Artest now)

Celtics are up 2-0 on the Magic. They may be tougher than folks are gicing them credit. I still put the Lakers over the Celtics in 6 games. :bang:
