STR has really changed. One of the most unbelievable DH races I've ever seen and there is no thread discussing it? Sure, a little mention in the Dirt Fantasy League thread, but c'mon people. Val di Sole is a gnarly MtB course - not a tilted motocross track, yet who smokes the field by nearly 8 seconds? Moto-boy Gwin himself. The man is amazing on a bike. Danny Hart had a great day in the rain last year no doubt, but our local boy has won 6 of the last 9 WC races and was on the podium in the other 3. Utter DOMINANCE!

I watched it 2 times. It was crazy. Gwinny's run was amazing. I wonder if all the dry and loose (fontana) conditions did him well for that track? Who knows, All I can say is that he is in "Beast Mode" and I dont think there is any going back!

Danny had a great run, as did gee, and Minnar! Certianly makes you wonder where gwinny found 8 FREAKING SECONDS?!?!???!?

Oh and yes "Look at the time" lol.

Rob Warner is a bad ass. I don't think watching the WC would be the same without him and the crazy energy he brings to it.

My favorite line was during gwin's run. Rob goes: "He needs a check-up, From the Neck-up!" ha ha ha.

Gwinny is just so composed he doesn't really even look all that fast - just flows like water. Rob Warner was speechless for a minute...

    My fav line was:

"Danny Hart has balls so big he need to race with a hammock"

    LOL

The fantasy league thread has some talk about it. Haven't seen the vid of this race, but it sounds like Sam Hill's legendary championship run, except that Gwin pulled it off. Where do you guys go to watch it online in high quality?

Balls = win occasionally, lots of great photos and video moments, crowd pleaser, injuries
Unnatural Talent and HUGE work ethic = Win a lot, set records, solid endorsements, make a living, raise the bar

Side Bet - $5 to anyone who can tell me what happened to Aaron Gwin's front teeth (I know the answer). Wait - I imagine you can Wikipedia the answer. Bet's off, but do you know?

Naturally not. The average rider here is more interested in which 29er to buy, the status of the Phully Loop, or the next local XC race.

Gwin is definitely dialed in. Agree with what was said earlier, the dude has a solid work ethic that's allowing him to compete the level he's been performing at.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Atherton coming off of a leg injury? If so, give him sometime (Fort William) and he'll come back. He almost had a stellar run had he been able to stay on his peddles.

I'm anxious to see what Hill puts up this season. Being out of the mix for several seasons and seeing your competition change drastically is gong to prove challenging. Yeah he finished within the top ten, but let's see what he does on the next WC. Of all of the riders, I think Hill takes some of steepest risks, however, when executed properly he reaps the biggest rewards. Problem is, he's got sometime to go before he can become as laser focused as Gwin.

You make a good point. Here's a shot from VitalMTB of the seasoned veteran examining some lines after going down in practice and getting stitches. Season has just barely started and he's racking up a laundry list of abuse to his body.

Speaking of bruising, sad to hear about Cedric Gracia going down on his first run in practice. Hoping for a speedy recovery after breaking his hip. Again from VitalMTB, a shot of his friend carrying his bike up top while CG was carried off in a stretcher.

Pretty sure he was in Moab and was doing a really easy curb size drop when he went over the bars and faceplanted

I started a group on Spacebook where we talk about the World Cup, it has pretty pictures, cute videos and sometimes funny jokes.
    http://www.facebook.com/#!/events/311342608951557/

On that page, We don't talk about 29'ers cause they kinda funny, the loop because its like riding a bike on a minature golf course and and XC because we are allergic to lycra.

On a serious note (yes I can be serious), Gwinny killing everyone. Sure he beat erveryone by 7.85 seconds, he beat the 6th placethru -82th by plus 10.3 seconds+

    That is just insane.
