Haha, those are some Duck hunting pix for sure. Fired up after last night's win eh Dino?! Kings looked a bit shaky on opening night, but they definitely redeemed themselves against the Sharks. Should be a good season to follow! See ya at the rink!

    I have a couple comments/questions:

How many fights will George Parros get in this year?

Why can't the NHL get a decent TV deal? (I can't get Versus in my area!)

P.S. Alexander Ovechkin is the best player in the league although I always root for Crosby for some reason....

+1, but not on the Crosby comment. I find him to be a whining baby, and I find him boring to watch beause he plays with no excitement.

I think Ovechkin is one of the best players to watch though because of how energetic and excited he gets when he makes a big hit or scores a goal. It makes you feel like you are on the ice with him.

Ovie's definitely fun to watch no question, although he's not as well rounded as Crosby, and some of his goal scoring celebrations are a bit too much (ie Stick On Fire).

I foresee this kid having a great season. He's on fire:

    Hell yeah I'm fired-up!
Didn't see you last night... What gives?
    :?:

I know we are only two games into the season...

    LA KINGS
-First time in recent memory they have players who WANT to shoot the puck
-They look quicker and more talented than last years team
-Anze Kopitar is ridiculously talented (5 points in 2 games)
-Wayne Simmonds is MUCH improved over last year
-I do NOT like the way they've been setting up the power play
    -They are a bit undersized
-They are a finesse team... Curious to see what will happen when physical teams try to push them around
-Until they sign a player the team can RALLY around (i.e. Iginla, Crosby, Thornton etc.), they will have a tough time winning a Cup
    -Goal tending always scares me

    San Jose Sharks
-They looked horrible last night (I was at the game)
-They lost 7 important pieces from last years team
-It will take them a few months before they gel
-Their power play LOOKS awesome (scored 4 times against Kings)
-I wish the Kings had a "Joe Thornton" on the team (play maker, physical, talented, demands respect from his own team and the opposing team etc.)
-I expect BIG things from Heatley, Marleau, Setoguchi and Thornton this year

    Anaheim Ducks
    -Who cares

    Pittsburgh Penguins
Can they repeat? Will they make it to their 3rd straight Cup final? I don't see why not...

Can't wait to see how this season unfolds...

Yeah, bummed I missed it & I'll just start racking up tix for the exchange games.

Hopefully Kings can get some momentum going! :bang: They had a good preseason. I brought my boys to Saturday's game & they were pretty bummed out with the L.

But the Ducks still have something the Kings don't. Do I need to post a picture?

The thing with the Sharks is, they're quickly becoming the San Diego Chargers of the NHL. Every year they should do really well, are picked by the pundits to do very well, and play exceedingly well at times, especially in the beginning and middle of the season. Then, either at the end of the season or in the playoffs, they collapse in heartbreaking losses. They just simply can't hang under the pressure of big games. (watch the hate mail from charger fans come pouring in now...)

I'm curious to see what Jacques Lemaire does back with the Devils. I want to see if Chicago can stay resurgent too; watching that young, fired-up team last season was a lot of fun. And I always like trying to hit the over/under on when Kings fans go from talking about this season to the prospects of next season. On average, it's sometime in January...early January.

Good point. The kings have far more things to worry about...like how much further up in next year's draft they'll get to pick. Gotta keep an eye on those prospects...

I said in last years thread to remember this kid!

The biggest thing the Kings now have that they did not last season is unity.

Last season, no one really stood up for one another. Last night when Davis Drewiske was put into the boards on a charge, the team went after Staubitz and Shelley paid the price with his face as Ivanans played punching bag with it.

The Sharks are still the same nuecelous as last season with the addition of Heatley. They should be playing well together.

The Kings had a late season accusition of Justin Williams and the offseason move to add Ryan Smyth. Add in the fact that the Kings are still young and you have a team that is really going to take off this season as it starts to gel. My only questions still remains goaltending.

    Unity... No doubt about it!
There were quite a few times last night where "finesse" players took one for the team (i.e. laying in front of a shot, taking a hit, chasing the puck into the boards, coming to the defense of a teammate...).

With regard to the Ivanans v. Shelly incident... OMG!
Shelly took a few HEAVY hits... You had to be there to feel them... Video made it look like nothing! Trust me- They landed!

During the Andy Murray era, Ziggy Palffy was practically killed on the ice every night after Stu Grimson left. We had Lappy, who would go hug the guy and maybe give them a noogie.

No one big was on the ice...Esa Pirnes, Brad Chartrand, etc etc.....The team needed more Adam Deadmarsh's, and big bodies. While I like Andy Murray and Dave Taylor I am glad they are gone.
