Does anyone have any experience with Shift gear? I've been looking into some new clothes and these look they could work pretty well. I especially like the removable lower leg so I don't have to wear my leg armor uphill or undress at the top.

I have a friend who wore them, its too baggy for pedaling movment. Thats why My ONE ind. gear is one size smaller than what I normally wear (my normal jeans are 36, but moto pants for bike is 34) to be a little tight wrap around on my legs with kyle struat knee pads by 661. Although I wear them for downhill racing.

I've worn 3 sets of shift gear for motocross, but they never last long especially the pants. One of the shift pants was completely torn on the hip area after 1 moto. No more shift gear for me.

Shift is Fox's entry level moto line. Most moto specific shorts lack any ventilation. Not that big of a deal for shuttle runs but if you're pedaling, the boys will be begging for some air. If you only want long pants for racing DH, MX pants would be better.

Probably ok for DH but too baggy and restrictive for XC.

I ride a shift gear long sleeve shirt when it's cold out. It works great. I used to ride dirtbikes, so I just carried it to MTB. Likewise with a black Troy Lees designs shirt. Anyhow mine is ventilated in the back, great for when your sweating, and breathable material elsewhere. Speaking of dirtbike stuff, I also use only fox or Oneall motorcycle gloves for MTB'g. They are Usually cheaper and thicker than typical MTB mfr's. I've not tried the pants for MTB'g. No padding and a little baggy as mentioned above.

I really didn't see a whole lot of options for pants with removable lowers or zippered sides that had vents. It's amazing how gaudy and tacky some of the stuff targeted for us can be. I do a lot of night riding so these should work good for that and I can always take off the bottom part if it gets too warm. I have a pair of Fox ranger shorts (above the knee olds cool) I got from my lbs that can always be used as a backup if needed.

when i used a pair of pants like that they kept hooking the front deariler on steep slow speed climbs. You might have to tuck them into your sock.

they make pretty decent stuff. I have a few pairs of their gloves. Although, the fox gloves are pretty much the standard.
