Going to Mammoth Mon-Wed. Bringing a buddy of mine that has a DH bike that is out of commission at the moment. Normally If I bring someone we just have them rent a DH bike at footloose but its so unpredictable of what they will have in stock when we get there in the morning. Do any local shops in orange county rent downhill bikes? Hes specifically looking for something with a dual crown fork, Hes used to riding Demo's. Thanks for the help : D

give the guys at the Path a call. last I checked, they still had 2010 demo 8's for the demo fleet (M and L at least, not sure on the small). think it's $55/day or so.

    *Footloose does not reserve bikes
*If you are the first person in the parking lot (8am)- You can choose from any bike in their fleet!
*Monday-Wednesday = Plenty of bikes to choose from

*What happens if you rent a bike from a shop in So Cal- and then jack it up? :-k
(rent a bike in Mammoth, you'll be back on the slopes in an hour)

i don't see why not. aren't they still a kona bike park?

footloose should have stuff on mon-wed though. only time I ever had trouble renting something, it was closing weekend, so they had sold off most of their fleet already anyway. I'd assume they have demo 8 I's this year as their nice bikes

Mammoth Mountain does indeed rent bikes!
I believe the longest travel bike they rent is the (7") Cannondale Perp!

Foostloose has a very good selection (of high end bikes)
Another shop (name escapes me) rents KHS Lucky 7's!
    Not sure about the rest!

I checked at the Path on sunday, and apparently, they no longer rent out the Demos.

EDIT: Also, how are the Perps that they rent out at Mammoth? Their unlimited-access pass + 4 hour rental is a pretty good deal, and I plan on taking my trail bike too for some mellower riding if we want more after that time is up.

Well the trip worked out well and my bud was able to rent a demo 8 from footloose. We got there around 11am monday morning to find it raining with thunder and lightning and the lift shut down. I was told the lift opened later in the day but we had already made up our minds to ride on Tuesday and start drinking. Just some advice apparently every Tuesday at footloose they have two for Tuesdays deal. So renting a bike is half off!
