I have been really focusing this year on Endurance MTB racing and the Kenda Cup was my first endurance series. I raced the SS Open Marathon class as well as some of the shorter stuff Cat 1 SS at Bonellie and Fontana. I was able to take the victory in the overall class but I was looking at the rankings the other day and was amazed to see where I stood. here is a link to the list for the entire country. See how long it takes to find my name Andre Campos http://www.usacycling.org/rankings/...n:XCM&cat=01&agemin=1&agemax=99&mode=get_rank. All this makes me want to do is train harder and ride more to prepare for next year.
I went through all 100pages, I cant find ya' where are you ranked @............... hahaha Killer work Mr. SS- Great Job- Mario.
depends on the upcoming event 10,000ft-20,000ft. I try to do at least 8k on an easy week. There is no rhyme or reason to my mileage I try to do 14hrs a week on the bike
This forum is what got me hooked on cycling and it is why i am where i am today. I have meet lots of great people and made a few friends to train with. Thanks all who have listened to my weird SS related questions and comments over the years.
Proud of you AND how far you climbed in such a short time (literally and figuratively). Keep doing what your doing. Hope your love for the bike lasts a lifetime. What I most hope for is that you stop breaking / stretching bike chains (some last only a few rides) #-o Sincerely, Your Biggest Fan
Simple solution in short on the chain issue. Its high time for a change back to a bike made for SS and of Steel.......
I havent been here in a while. I feel you on the racing thing. I started riding a couple years ago, and went to my first race within the first month (at 270lbs). After a year of doing the Kenda Cup and US cup series, I did my first endurance race, the Vail lake 6 hour. A few months later I completed a 12 hour at Vail, got down to 230lbs by then. My buddies wouldn't ride with me anymore because all I ever wanted to do was climb and put in big mileage rides. Unfortunately, the time it takes for a big man to be competitive burned me out. To train for the 12hr, I was doing 4-5hr rides 3-4 days week. Not many people understood the desire to ride with a definite goal in mind. I just recently got back on my bike again and cant help but look at different race series. It is total addiction, of the most amazing kind. Just a useless word of advice. When the older guys talk about burn-out and that some days need to be play rides, they are totally right. It is easy to become obsessive.
That's a lot of fun work! Climbing is something I love to hate but i always feel sooo great when I get to the top. I have a mix of friends. Some think climbing is crazy and useless and others embrace and want to climb more. Depending on how I feel, determines which group I ride with. haha.
