Hellfire, bro–that sux. Maybe the healing process will be expedited if I pick me up a Burner Recover strongly regardless!
Yeah Kevin, two down from our Chiquito ride a week ago (sure hope Dean is improving). Be very careful out there!
Sorry to see this. Man, the video looks painful, and the pic...ugh! Good luck - hope you heal fast & well. At least it's not trail work season
Oh wow the X-ray looks worse than I thought. I thought it was just gonna be a crack, not a full break and commuted to boot. Definitely don't try and ride with that thing completely severed. If it keeps moving it won't heal. I perhaps know from experience Hopefully they can push it back in place (it's gonna hurt like a mother-effer) and they don't have to cut you open. healing vibes Dave!
Yep, I'm improving. I can finally type with the two fingers I have available on my left hand so I'm back to a useful WPM (I used to type at 80-115 WPM so typing slow is infuriating). I'll have to update the airlift post, but my doc said 4 weeks. Mo must have made voodoo dolls of all of us on the chiquito ride.
Sorry to hear about your injury. I had a "boxer's break" a few years ago on my left hand as well, riding an Aliso trail I was very familiar with. Your xrays look very similar. Doc gave me two choices: surgery with pins or cast and let it heal slightly displaced, I picked the later. My pinky does stick out a bit further than it used to but besides that, it's all good. Hope you heal up fast ( mine was about 8 weeks)!
Thanks Daime, basically got the same pitch today from the doc and, like you, I'm opting to let it heal on it's own albeit a little crooked. Doc said I'll eventually have most of the mobility back as well as avoid some other potential risks by not doing surgery. So 4 more weeks in a splint and some PT and hope to be good to go, biking-wise. But guess my dream of being a hand model is over #-o Thanks again everyone for the well wishes, now if I can just keep my sanity for a month off the bike I'll be back riding with you all soon:bang:
Well, um, my doc kinda said to stay away from guys riding Knollys for awhile, not sure what he meant then.....:?:
He said it would be very painful. Grasp bottle with pinky on the bottom, and tip the bottle up to mouth multiple times while flexing pinky.... he said the pain would go away after awhile....
Thanks vinosteep. Still splinted, no swelling or pain as long as I don't move it. follow-up tomorrow to see how the bone is healing and get a revised timeframe. 3 weeks now, full on biking withdrawls, especially seeing those rides you're posting that I'd like to join!
Well, keep it rested so it heals fine and strong. I hear you , it suck to be down. I felt the same when i was out for almost a year. cheer up you will ride again soon...
