Can somone educate me on these bikes on why they get such a bad rap? A number of LBSs I have been to and folks I have met on the trail or even co-workers don't like these bikes. I've only met "one" person that actually enjoys them and thinks they are the best bang for the buck. Am I missing something here?

Cause we're all bike snobs and wouldn't be caught dead riding one. There's really nothing wrong with them and they can be had at a pretty good value.

Funny that you and Foo mentioned Dino. It's not him after reading SAR boats intro. It's an autoX friend of mine that rides out in the L.A. area.

All you need to know is this:

    1) The members of STR are NOT bashing Iron Horse, they are attacking ME.
The Iron Horse bicycle company unfortunately is stuck in the middle!

    2) When the multi- national conglomerate (known as K2) purchased IH - they had a few growing pains. Poor quality control, warranty claims were denied etc. etc.

    3) Some bike snobs (cough Turner cough) wouldn't be caught dead on a bike that sells its value based models (i.e. non-dwLink) at Sports Chalet.

    4) See #1

What can not be denied is the fact:
    * In my opinion, the DW-Linkage is the most "complete" suspension design in the world. It's merits have been THOROUGHLY debated/discussed on MTBR. A mini-education: http://dw-link.com/reasons.html (it's all true)

    * The Iron Horse Sunday may be the greatest DH bike ever created.
No offense to the V-10 or the Intense M6.

    * The 2006 and 2007.... Men's and Women's UCI World Champions both ride Iron Horse Bikes. Countless other champions also ride for IH.

*Watch ROAM? The Collective? Have any favorite freeride stars?
Many got their start with IH. They were pulled away by the almighty dollar!

    * The owner and staff (all AMAZING riders) of a well known "BIKE SHOP" all ride for IH. Again, their skills are undeniable. They will never be questioned about their CHOICE in bikes- only I will!

    To be continued...

Allison- For the 900,000th time, the pic is funny! Misleading but funny! :bang:

...Doesn't change the fact that (at the dirt demo a few weeks ago) YOU, YOUR HUSBAND, SPROCKETHEAD, AHIMANIC and everyone else who rode the SUNDAY admitted it was a truly special bike! Enough said!

Hopefully, you will "MANN-UP" and admit to it!

IH is just one of many fine bikes!!! I myself have 2 Intense bikes and a Morewood from South Africa. It's all about personal preference. ;)

Wow, what's Dino gonna write when he has more time?

Seriously, I think they make fine bikes. I've heard the same gripes from friends of friends whose LBS said not to buy etc. But everyone I meet who has one always seems pretty happy with their bikes. I think the 6pt. is a pretty sweet frame.

don't be fooled by the 'obvious' in the pic. what looks like a crash is actually dino performing some trailside breakdancing with his bike...weird, i know.

    take a look

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Horse_Bicycles

    under Bicycle Quality#-o

"In recent years there has been a signifiant increase in the number of quality and safety issues raised concerning entry-level Iron Horse bicycles. In 2007, the Bicycle Safety Advocacy Council launched a campaign to make the public aware of bicycle quality issues that could impact public safety."
