    It all makes sense

It all makes sense but somehow it feels like it doesn't "flow".

"My Posts" section is great but it feels in an awkward place.

also +1 on drop-down for links under "logged in as" and add some profile links (link to CP)?

may be have "recent posts", "my posts" and "rides" all as three 2nd level tabs under the Home (not sure how easy it is to do on this platform).

    My thoughts...

    1) No reason to change the LOGGED IN AS.
In my opinion, the current version is cleaner than the updated version!
I will admit, the "photo gallery" part may not be necessary

    2) Why waste space on the home page (by adding an I've Posted Here box)
The green check marks show the viewer where they have posted

    3) If you want to keep the "I've Posted Here" box
I believe it could work if tweaked

    4) I don't see the point of RANDOMIZE
If one were to refresh a page, it will randomize on its own
If one were to click HOME, it will randomize on its own

    5) Freshness? :?:
Again, I don't see why that is necessary
    Too much empty space
    6m..9m...29m... Not aesthetically pleasing!

    6) The changes ruined the flow of the home page

    One man's opinion...

Actually when you access the Home Page(like I do from my BlackBerry) you don't get the check marks of threads you've posted on....AND sometimes threads you have posted on aren't on the Home Page....I personally use the Home Page to keep up w/ others currently online(actively posting) 1st then move onto threads I've posted on...

I personally have never seen the point of knowing how many "unread posts since my last visit"

I do realize what you are saying!
You do have a good point!
I am certain there is a simple way to give you the check mark you so desire!

My point is: First impressions are everything!
A clean (and well thought out) HOMEPAGE sets a tone!
If an advertiser, newb, lurker or current member views the STR homepage (and they don't like what they see).... If they see things that don't belong.. If something looks unprofessional... :-k

Plenty of places to make improvements
Plenty of other ways to improve the site
Space is limited (especially on the home page)
I don't believe these changes are the best use of space!

    Just my opinion...

I need to take a look again....I have been only looking at it from being logged in....when you are not logged in the Home Page (currently) has a different look....

  11. Is there a way to view this site in text-only format? I sit in a big room with lots of people and my computer is in full view. It's hard to read this site and still have people think I'm productive.

Perhaps you could have a "workers" version with lots of charts and graphs. Something that looks like a normal office-person's desktop, but still alows me to be plugged into the most bitchen mountain bike site ever created!

I really like the changes. I mostly use the homepage when I visit the site andbeing able to quickly see the most recent threads and also check in on older threads I have posted in would be a welcome addition. I am always checking the site from my phone (right now), so I would also be interested in a mobile site.

Anyone want to write an iPhone app? ;)

Once you're looking at a thread click on "show printable version". One small step that eliminates photos, avatars, etc. reloads faster too.

I suppose it's a lot of work but why not a homepage much like personalized google or yahoo with modules we can add, delete, or drag around?

One feature that I like on this site was created by one of the users which was a California Trailhead Map. I think a link from the front page to help make it a prominent informational resource (instead of a link buried in a forum) would be great. For a new rider like myself, having an idea of where to ride based on a google map has been great.

Can a "Delete" tab be added so the OG thread. poster can delete their own threads if they get hijacked or if the stuff being sold is all gone...this would take some burden off the Mods from having to close a. thread....

I find the space still pretty much wasted... nothong personal, just one man's opinion.
I also do some web work so I realize that every request takes some effort...

    In my perfect STR world...

    1) I'd like to see the rides section on the top.
Also, let me set the max number of days to see rides.
Ideally I'd like to see "Rides in the next 7 days", "Rides in this next 30 days" and "Rides in the next 90 days". Let me select which sets I want.
    2) Let me set the number of recent forum topics listed as well.
I don't need to see so many
    3) I can remember who I'm logged in as.
    4) Photos are nice, but a waste of bandwidth.
    5) Folks w/o a thingy should be supporting the site via add banners ;)

I would rather see these thing organized from top to bottom thereby freeing up the left hand side of the screen and I'd like to be able to turn off front page photos by preference.

A preference to show/not show front page pics might be good. Personally, I usually enjoy them, but I can see where some might not.

An easier-to-access text-only view would also be good for the workplace.

I like the "I've Posted Here" for the same reason already mentioned: It's way easier than digging through forums.

What happened to "Thanks Given/Received" on the front page? I hope that's not going away, especially as incorporated into posts. It's minor, I know, but my narcissistic side likes it, and compared to some forums where I've posted that don't have that kind of feedback, this is a much more civilized bunch. I suspect the Thanks function may be a small part of that

This doesn't apply to me either but some people do share a computer w/ roommates or spouses....that would be helpful for them
