So i was hit from the rear 50 miles into my 80 miles ride. went flying over the handle bars! Landed face first on pavement! Knocked the two front teeth out and a hole all the way through my lip. got stitches and a some fake teeth in there now! I am just thankful that i didnt break any bones cause some teeth and stitches wont stop me from being active and living my life! Planning to get my bike checked out tomorrow and either go for a very short ride or go to the gym. And i bought a biking magazine for the night! still a little shaken up though
happened in flagstaff Arizona. ya i cant wait to get and ride again. i am thinking tomorrow i am going to the weight room for sure. and possibly a short ride. is that a bad idea about the ride?
Glad your injuries haven't put you on the DL. One question, or series of questions. Rear Ended? Were you on the Road or on the trail? (80 Miles makes me think Road) If on the trail, how did you get rearended? Please do give more details. Just curious. Heal Quick my friend.
ah my stitches should be alright. Yes i was on the road. The guy just bumped me and i endowed the bike. Man it felt like the black guy getting curb checked in American History X. i am not looking forward to these root canals but want them to get done asap as least it looks like i have my real teeth in right now and just a lip injury lol. My lip is so swollen right now! It feels like a balloon. My plan for the day is to go hit the gym hard with legs and get em soar so i wont feel as bad about not riding on my schedule. Anyone else ever had an injury like this where you just endo and eat it?
What's up with Flagstaff drivers? dizzy from the altitude? My daughter at NAU just got hit walking in a crosswalk two days ago -- did a Jackie Chan roll onto the hood, but luckily only minor injuries. I'd say you are very lucky considering what might have happened. A friend's wife barely survived being hit by a car on her bike. Many haven't. So nowadays I load up my MTB rather than ride it 15 minutes to my local area (cuz there's a freeway interchange bridge and lights to go thru..). Any given day you wake up, ya don't know what could happen. I'm very glad you weren't hurt worse! Heal up & hit the trails!
ya he stopped and gave me a ride back to campus and i had one of my friends drive me to the ER to get stitched up. and fake teeth put in the same day. so i just look like i have road rash and a biiiig upper lip. ladies love that right specially with 12 stitches in it lol but so to keep this thing out of the sun when i go for rides. i am thinking of wearing a bandanna. what do you guys think?
well got back from the yellow bandanna ride and it was great! it kept my stitches hidden from the sun and didnt dry them out to much. i enjoyed riding and it seemed like all the cars were staring at me cause the yellow bandanna lol
get a bright a$$ yello jersey for the road... i did and it has saved me so many times. better to be seen than felt...
As an added bonus, you are now safe from contracting the avian bird flu while you ride. Heal up soon!
ya my worst fear was dental injuries too but with lots of pain killers they arent that bad. as long as you have insurance or means to fix them. def did freak me out like no other injury at first though when i still had jagged teeth. just feels so good to be out there riding cant stop!
