I put a couple of ads and decided to test the email seller function and it didn't work. I also had a buddy of mine try sending me an email through my classified ad and it never got to me. I checked my SPAM folder and didn't find anything. Additionally, I hit up a couple of people on their classified ad over the last few weeks and they never responded back to me. I thought they were just pricks but I wonder if there is an actual problem.

I've posted a few ads before with no luck. I don't mind paying a few bucks to post an ad on here as long as the service I'm paying for works. I wont post anymore with the past few experiences I've had.

Let's test it... post your ad here and i will try contacting you about it. It's weird cuz i posted my stuff on a few forums and i got decent responses in those other forums. Absolutely nothing from this forum... odd, just odd.

I set up a gmail account specifically for online stuff. I use it for craigslist, pinkbike... all sorts of sites.

I just made it steve.c.ad.web[at]gmail.com. Most of the time though, nobody reads the whole ad, so, they never see it. Either that or nobody wants my crap!

Ok so I am not the only one... it can't be that everyone selling something here don't care to reply back to their sale ads. Something is going on.

Something that confused me is that the classifieds seems to have its own message system, separate from the normal BB PM system. Open a classified add, and look for a link in the middle of the nav bar at the top, between "Subscriptions" and "Home".

Most people don't want emails so they turn that option off. I use PM's and PM'd a member when I saw he WTB a black Chris King headset. We exchanged ph # via PM after initial contact. I also had a replies to a few of my adds. Just this week alone I sold 4 Surly cogs. I also recently sold one of the jerseys I had listed.

When you go the classifieds page, you'll see the [no message ] in the header. If you've been notified about an add, you'll see [1 messages]

BTW, I moved this thread to "Website Discussion"

I had this problem before when I reply

I believe this is what is happening, when they reply to your ad it goes to a separate inbox that can only be seen when they log into there classifieds section. it happened to me, I saw some pms only when i checked the classified section, which I hardly go to.

my fix, I just copy and past there name in the regular forum section and pm them there, I get responses when I do that

    just my thought:wave:

If you pay for a service, i.e. Classifieds on STR, shouldn't you expect it to work?? I've resorted to posting on other sites which don't charge to post classified ads with satisfactory results. To bad for STR, they don't get my money

I just did in post #11. Sorry, I don't have the answer since I have ZERO admin access. You will need to contact an ADMIN or PM LBmtb. Aside from owning this site, he is also an Admin.

All I can tell you is edit your add to use regular PM. I have not had a problem with my adds using that option.

I generally contact sellers through regular PM when I'm interested in something.

Bought some wheels this week with no problem, although I sent a PM directly to the seller. When I was selling a bunch of stuff a few months back, I wasn't getting any response until I checked the message section in the actual classified section.

I just thought people didn't like me when I inquired about their items. :(
