I broke my hand yesterday riding this place and now have all the time in the world to amuse myself. So let's have some fun. I really like the "name that trail" game and thought I would give it a shot. Here's a few pics to get us started and I'll post more as we go along. *Disclaimer* - this is a legal trail and although not MTB friendly, is open to bikes. First hint: it's off the beaten path and you won't find it in any MTB guide books. The lead in a little further down a little further things start to get interesting
no ok, you suck. Now what am I going to do for the rest of the day? Mt. Woodson it is. What gave it away?
rest of the RR So I've gotten a little bored riding my regular trails and have been doing some exploring lately. I had heard very little about Mt. Woodson and thought I would give it a go. It turned out to be an interesting ride to say the least. I ended up crashing (more like fell down) on one of the many super tight switchbacks about halfway through the ride. I managed to catch myself on one of the large sharp rocks armoring the trail saving my face, but landed on my hand at a strange angle. Once I finished dusting myself off and checking out the new scratches on my top tube, I noticed that my hand felt kinda funny and was already starting to swell insde my glove. I didn't dare take my glove off because it wouldn't change the fact that I still needed to make my way around the rest of the loop and back to my truck. Some pics leading up to the crash... Getting started Something wicked this way comes One of the many beyond tight switchbacks (top of pic coming from right) immediately followed by a step section Just before crashing Crash site, hard to appreciate how tight this was and loose on the outside line One last fun section before my hand started hurting too bad to hold onto the bars Where do rocks this big come from? So I managed to hike and coast my way back to the truck and straight to urgent care. I saw one of the best orthopedics in the country today (who happens to be in San Clemente) and he said I should be good to go by the Toad Festival in a couple of weeks. Or did I imagine him saying that? Guess we'll see...
 I never being there but I've seen these: http://www.mountainbikebill.com/MtWoodson.htm and the big boulders give it away.:?: BTW nice bike:wave: Now guess this one.
uh, Mars, the red planet? I think I've seen that one on a Swartzenegger movie. The guy was lying down squirming right before his head exploded. I love this game!!!
"cjwallyUtah...I don't know the name of the trails, but how about Thunder Mountain" You got it, is Thunder Mountain, the happiest place on earth other than Home Depot. That was our 3th day riding and near St. George and I could climb anymore as you can see, that was the top and there is a beautiful downhill trail after.
