Gravity Pirates Racing is hosting a jump clinic at San Diegos first public bike park!

Its that time of year again and Gravity Pirates Racing is hosting a jump clinic! This clinic is going down at San Diegos first public bike park, The Crows Nest! We look forward to imparting our knowledge to make you a better DH rider. This clinic exists to help you expand your boundaries. We will help you increase your skill level, comfort in the air, body positioning, gauging speed, and most of all, having fun.

    -----Basic Clinic Info-----
    --------------------------------
    When: Sunday, February 15 at 8:30am - 2:00pm

    Cost: $30.00 per person
    Location: http://tinyurl.com/gpr0215map
    Pizza lunch will be provided.

    -----How to Register-----
    --------------------------------
    Pay via http://tinyurl.com/gpr0215pay
    RSVP on Facebook.
You will NOT be registered if you only RSVP without payment!

    -----Coaches-----
    ------------------------
Steve Ford, Founder of Gravity Pirates & Gravity Pirates Racing, has hosted and instructed many clinics and is now a IMBA-certified instructor.

Gravity Pirates Racing team members will also be available for coaching/assisting. GPR has experienced jumpers and Cat 3 to PRO-level DH/Super D/Enduro racers who know how to explain, in layman's terms, the techniques for jumping and pumping.

    -----What to bring-----
    ----------------------------
REQUIRED: A mountain bike w/FLAT pedals - no toe clips, no clipless pedals!
    REQUIRED: A helmet
RECOMMENDED: A short seatpost – ideally you want your seat/seatpost as low as possible
    RECOMMENDED: Armor, Arm/Knee pads
RECOMMENDED: Water – we’ll have a limited supply, so bring some ‘just in case’

    -----Disclaimer-----
    -------------------------
Mountain biking is an inherently hazardous sport, so you are partaking of this activity at your own risk. You are solely liable for any and all consequences that arise from your participation in this activity. You will be required to sign a liability waiver before you can participate in the clinic.

Please also note that this clinic is open to Beginner to Intermediate level MTBers who already have basic mountain bike skills and want to learn techniques to allow them to safely jump and ride a pump track. It is also open to Advanced level MTBers who want to improve their jumping skills. This is NOT for BEGINNER RIDERS who want to learn the basics of riding a mountain bike. You can be a beginner DHer, but you CANNOT be a beginner rider, so you'll need to know the basics of riding a mountain bike. If you are not comfortable riding your MTB, this clinic is not for you.

    Limited to 20 spots.

Right after Valentines day... not sure if the wife would dig that.

I definitely could use this clinic. Even with 3 trips to snow summit last summer, I couldn't build up the courage to clear the table tops.

You can still get a ticket for this sold out event ... for free!!!

First you must search for the entry form on the two Mountain Bike Diary (MBD) pages that featured last year's Gravity Pirate Clinic. Links to those pages are shown below.

    http://www.mountain-bike-diaries.com/gravity-pirates.html

    http://www.mountain-bike-diaries.com/gravity-pirates-page-2.html

    Then just enter your name.

If you win the free ticket we will post your name in that exact same MBD page location on Friday (2/13/15). We will forward your name to the Gravity Pirates before the clinic starts on Sunday ... so all you have to do is check in.

Funny suggestion considering my wife moved here from Japan in '07. I actually already cashed in my advanced White Day favors for a Swagman Jackknife 2 rack.

Today I rode across G spot. These dudes must have the BIGGEST chingadera. After an 8 foot drop off a giant boulder the trail then hits the top of a boulder and all I can see is air. I get off and look, a second vertical 10' blind drop onto a 10 foot long chunked area before leaping off camber to another. This part of the trail used to be blocked off, it is insane. G spot certainly is home turf to the gravity dudes. Oh yeah there are no alternates or bail outs, total commitment to the war on gravity.
Quite impressed on the Happy Trails

I want to thank Gravity Pirates for putting on a great event yesterday!

The Crows Nest is going to be a great public bike park once it's opened up and it was fun to hit it with the GP crew and get a bunch of pointers along the way.

It was a ton of fun and I highly recommend going to the next one if you can make it.

Here are a couple of shots from the jump line...
