Bob, I think you need another nickname. I got to think about it a bit. You are on team Crash with us after all. If it means anything I crashed yesterday by being pushed into a curb by a car. I got lots of mountain bike vids if you ever want to borrow them. Cheers. Well have a beer soon to make up for you missing Beachwood.

Time always seems to by quicker once you are into the recovery period........it just seems like forever at the beginning.

If this is all you manage to get accomplished, you've completed a GREAT goal for your health - diet is worse for you than regular soda - both are BAD!

...And sounds like your attitude is RIGHT ON!

Plus the crash gives you a chance to ditch the carbon frame & start from scratch with steel.

Considering that I am just starting the settlement process, I'm not going to comment much about details, but there doesn't seem to be any doubt that it was the driver's fault.

    Well, it's only part carbon.
Not sure if they will replace the bike or repair the existing one. I'd definitely feel a lot more comfortable with a replacement. I think I might always be nervous about that bike every time I get up to speed on a hill or carve into a corner.

If I'm gonna watch "Sharktopuss," I'm gonna need my Jack straight up.

    Well, among other things:

Life is can change in an instant, so live well.

Always wear a helmet (already knew that one)

Nothing is more valuable than your health or the relationships with those who are closest to you.

Always wear clean underwear and don't leave porn open on your computer, cuz you never know when someone may have to help you.

And don't make assumptions about the recovery process. Right after I started this thread I found out that my collarbone wasn't healing right. Had surgery yesterday to install some hardware, which resets the clock for recovery. I have another 4-5 weeks in a sling, plus more rehab since I'll be immobile longer. No CC and probably no Rwanda ride for me this year. Also need to reset my attitude, since I was really looking forward to being active again soon, but I'll get there!

Wow, quite encouraging for anyone else on injured reserve. I did not hear if this accident, but I'm really glad I'm hearing about from you instead of an obituary.

Learn to bunny hop higher than a truck!

Hope you're doing well after the surgery!

Get healthy fast. Sorry to hear about this.

FWIW: I got whacked in Redlands last spring. Driver admitted fault. I got a lawyer. Then took bike to LBS and videod the inspection by shops service mgr. It was a CF frame and the damage was irrepairable (bent head tube, bearings cant be seated properly). Showed video to driver's insurance rep and my lawyer in attendance. We agreed that it was 100% loss and they sent me a check for complete new CF bike. The video was real handy to explain things to the agent and made for a tight, professional presentation.

Be sure you know your rights, have witnesses lined up and don't depend much on the CHP getting a report done to use in making your case - they drag it out forever. Driver admitted guilt at scene (to me and other rider) and this admission is your ticket to a quick settlement of medical and bike damages.

PM me if you need a reference for a good bike attorney.

I got a ton of road rash but no broken bones. Walking away from a clean hit from a car while I'm doing 35 MPH down Mill Creek Road is enough of a reward in itself. :)
