First "jump" on the golf course trail; someone went down hard about 8:45 - 9:00am this morning. Looked like he lost at least one tooth on a face plant. I didn't tarry long since there were tons of people around and I had my teenage daughter with me. Saw Fullerton FD & ambulance headed that way while riding down Harbor at the end. Don't know what, why, or who; hope he's okay.

Another accident by the Tree Park. One of the guy was on the stretcher when I passed by. According to another biker it was a collision of 2 bikers. One coming down from the top and the other rider on the bottom trail.

Apparently, it's enough trail for everyone to bust themselves up.....

I think it lulls you to sleep and then whack....
Although the most likely factor is shear volume of riders. With so many people doing fully loop runs, crashes are bound to happen.

It's probably the most underestimated trail considering how it's associated for being a beginner's trail.

    One word: Too Fast!
I manage to keep the rubber on the road there. Actually it is faster to pedal thru than catch air!!!

The tree park is ALWAYS the site of "very bad things". I have personallly witnessed ambulance and fire three times on that section but never a helicopter :-s

Healing vibes to the injured rider

Hope the rider isn't too beat up. Being primarily on the other side of the mountains I've never ridden this loop thing so many speak of, but I've seen being inattentive, pushing too hard for conditions and external factors cause tumbles on even mild trails and roads.

Kind of on a tangent and I hope to never find out first hand, the picture of the helo got me thinking about something I've been wondering about for a while. If you get air lifted from the middle of nowhere and aren't riding with anyone to take care of it, what happens with your bike? Will a ranger or officer on the ground haul it away until you or someone can pick it up? What if there's nobody on the ground?

I'm thinking that the bike is the last thing on everyone's mind at that point. Having never been in that situation I can't say for sure, but I'd hope someone would think to take care of it.

Crap - i just saw the Snow Summit post about Cruz, now another. Sounds like this was even more tragic in that it involved a probably guiltless motorist just driving along. And 19... crap. Slippery hardpack is no joke. Godspeed Rafael Correa Jr, and condolences to family and loved ones and the driver (assuming he/she did not contribute other than being in the wrong place at the wrong time). F***!!!!
